Seems like this might be considered a subcategory within a more general trope of plots that are driven by a countdown to a disaster that must be averted, such as an asteroid impact or a medical crisis (the kidnapped kid is diabetic!).

It's been a long time since I've seen the film & I might not be remembering it right, but didn't "The Last Action Hero" have a gag similar to the one from "Galaxy Quest" where a bomb is stopped at the last second because "that's how it always happens in movies"?

I know this is knitpicking, but the article says that Bond diffuses bombs at 0:07. In The Living Daylights he diffuses a bomb with 2 seconds remaining.
