Does intentionally losing a fight outside of an organized contest counts?
For instance, in Dungeon Keeper Ami, The Avatar intentionally loses a fight against Cathy in order to convince the dwarven army to retreat to avoid unnecessary loss of life, but it's a part of a warfare battle, not a contest. Would that count?
I think since several examples do not involve money or extortion of any kind, we need to review the description and Laconic of this trope...
