Possible example: the habitual expression of Sue (Suzanna Hopkins) from Genshiken. This isn't Dull Eyes of Unhappiness, as it practically never correlates to Sue's actual emotional state. It isn't really a Death Glare because as often as not her eyes are unfocused even when she's talking to somebody. (And because we can compare early Ogiue's "I hate everything about otaku and yes I know I am one" habitual glare with Sue's "I have been brought back from a plane of unimaginable torment to Earth to consume the flesh of the living".) And while it seems a deliberate habit rather than the result of any trauma, the trope description does deny cause is a vital part of it.
