Scary Terry's more of a Captain Ersatz, which Rick even comments on, "Looks like a legally safe knock off of an 80's horror character, with miniature swords for fingers, instead of knives!"

I've noticed a bit of an issue with the current image. Yes, the image makes perfect sence if you know that character from Breaking Bad, but if you don't, this image doesn't work. Could there at least be some form of subtitle or something in it? Something that emphasises the trope itself?

That image is also poorly formatted. It's just a quote with an image over it. Feel free to throw it into Image Picking.

I'd like to know... is this only about the word "bitch", or could some other expletive tacked on to the end of a word count, like "motherfucker"?

I'm of the opinion that This Is For Emphasis, Bitch! actually subtracted from the humor of Adam Sandler's line in Happy Gilmore when he gets into a fight with Bob Barker, knocks him out almost cold to the ground, and says, "The price is wrong, bitch!" The televised version arguably is more funny with "The price is wrong, Bobby!"

Donnie Darko is a nice example of this Trope. Donni calls his mom "bitch" in the subtlest and calmest way ever:

- Then why don't you start taking the goddamn pills? Donnie leans over and turns off his lamp. Rose turns and leaves her son alone in the dark, closing the door behind her, and then Donnie mumbles: - Bitch.

Then, Rose goes to his husband and says: - Our son just called me a bitch. And he awesomely replies - You're not a bitch. You're bitching... but you are not a bitch.

When this gets unlocked, someone can add the Black Eyed Peas song called "Simple Little Melody" with the lyrics, "3 + 1 = 4 = B.E.P. bitch." One of the sillier examples.

Funny isn't good enough when it's not accurate. This is not merely using "bitch" at the end of a sentence, and the page made it look like that before, causing loads of misuse.

And that wasn't just me who wanted the page cleaned up. There was also Fast Eddie. If you know who he is, you should take a more reasonable tone.

How was it not accurate? The trope is about adding the word "bitch" (or any other swear-word) to a sentence where it would otherwise function perfectly without the word, correct? The way the article was before, it did just that, as an example, and if my memory recalls correctly, each instance was accompanied with an exclamation point, further hitting home that whole "this is for emphasis" point. If that were not the case, and my memory is playing with me, then it would have been an easy and simple process to simply edit in exclamation points to accompany the "bitch" words.

In regards to Fast Eddie, I'm afraid I have do not know who he is. Sorry.

"The trope is about adding the word "bitch" (or any other swear-word) to a sentence where it would otherwise function perfectly without the word, correct?"

It was before, but the form of that, and allowing other words, turned this into just swearing all over the place, and swearing even when not at the end of sentences. It was getting a lot of misuse, something that still hasn't been fully cleaned up in the wicks.

"In regards to Fast Eddie, I'm afraid I have do not know who he is. Sorry."

Ah, I see. Well, that is a shame that such a humorous page got messed. It really had me rolling when I first read it.

And thank you for clarifying who Fast Eddie is. Not only did I not know who he was, but I was also unaware that it was him (i.e. one of the founders/admins of the site) who had made the change. This being a wiki, which can be theoretically edited by anyone, I was under the (mistaken) impression that some prude who took exception to swear words had done the editing. Well, now that I know the whole story and who was behind the change, I shall keep my peace and keep quiet, though I do still miss the page of yore.

I also liked it when the Folder headers incorporated the trope (i.e. "Comic Books, Bitch!"). I forget other specifics from the first time I read it but that part made me laugh. It wasn't the height of cleverness but it was moderately witty and I didn't find it gratuitous. If nothing else I hope the headers can be changed.

The new text was put in, but not everything. Just in case this paragraph is inserted later, I'm putting it here (since I put the sandbox page on the cut list):

Now simply saying "bitch" at the end of a sentence is not enough to count. Again, it has to be like verbalizing an exclamation point. Saying "bitch" constantly, or at random, doesn't count either. Calling someone a bitch can count though, as long as it's also for the purpose of emphasizing the rest of the sentence.

It's way too soon to call this a Discredited Trope. It's more likely Cyclical; all it would take is for another Memetic Badass to use it and it'll be on the upswing again. And audiences always love when Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds or Beware the Nice Ones use it.

I get it, FastEddie doesn't like this trope. But can we please get this page unlocked just so we can tidy it up? Some (probably) random attempt at pruning this before the lock has left hanging examples that no longer make sense (like this entry - 'The Middle Man: "Muscle memory, bitch!" They also quoted the Die Hard example.' - which makes no sense when said Die Hard example isn't on the page any more)... (I'd also like to see Aliens restored to the list, being the Most Triumphant Example, but that's a minor thing.)

Also, not liking this trope =/ a valid reason to lock the article.

re:Cut

I find those arguments unconvincing. It starts with quibbles over the origin of the phrase but really if you look at the examples, any one of them could be the origin. The issues with one particular show don't matter to the worth of the trope overall and I don't think there's anything to explain it as the source of all examples. I can't actually tell what examples did start the page but I'm bemused that the second example in the Live-Action TV section is the source of contention.

When we look overall the examples, I think we can see a common strain of people adding the curt, punctuated insult to the end to emphasis the anger and add an air of badassitude. This doesn't naturally exclude being able to interpret it as being directed at someone. Au contraire, that seems a natural part of bravado chest thumping with a little extra hilarity. That condition is a false addition it seems. The "foundations" seems to be actually what people have seen and deduced from what they watch on tv. Then they've taken that, spread wicks based on that, added examples based on that and I'll cut or not base on that.

Teal Dear: I'm not seeing this as a particularly valid basis for even starting a discussion about cutting. Examples, wicks and description seem coherent. I'm seeing no floaty little Trope Repair Box, I'm wondering how renaming a trope with 70 wicks is an epic change to be done as last resort but cutting one with over 300 isn't.

As at least one example shows, "motherfucker" can be substituted for "bitch", either to serve as a harsher implementation of the basic idea or just because it sounds better in that sentence.

I would have just added this to the article, but it's still locked.
