Are you sure that making this a "no examples" page was a good idea? I know that it was done on the grounds that many things could be considered an opinion, but you could make the same argument for a good fraction of the tropes here.
Hide / Show RepliesI support that this page should allow examples but be restricted. A forum thread should be made to discuss which examples are appropriate. Once approved, the example is added. Like what we do with Magnificent Bastard.
Here there be cats.Linking to a past Trope Repair Shop thread that dealt with this page: Misuse On Pages, started by MrDeath on Mar 21st 2011 at 8:37:09 PM
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNot sure whether this would be better as a page quote, but throwing it up here.

I don't get it (city born and bred here!)
Edited by Theatre_Maven_3695So if I have a character explicitly stated to be Irish, carries around a flask of high-proof alcohol and is seen at least once drinking a concoction of tomato juice and hot sauce...but it turns out said character wasn't The Alcoholic, in fact, quite the opposite, would it count as this trope?
Why do we have to mention that this is Truth in Television? That's kinda obvious.
Hide / Show RepliesYou would think so, wouldn't you?
"Pale Ebenezer thought it wrong to fight, but Roaring Bill (who killed him) thought it right." - Hillaire Belloc, The PacifistHow about considering restricting examples to The Untwist in fiction?
Hide / Show RepliesOkay, so I can understand why personal examples are not allowed, but what about lampshades, discussions, invocations, etc.? I ask because these are somewhat frequent.
I do agree that examples on page should be allowed. This is a deliberate technique that plays on audience's expectations rather than being something that's accidental. I think the accidental one should get its own page.
