There are a lot of categories on there (and I'm impressed), but the one I was thinking of doesn't seem to fit cleanly into any of them. It goes like this:
This person rats out another person simply because he or she feels this is what he or she is supposed to do. After ratting out this other person, he or she resumes daily life like nothing ever happened. There is no grudge, no negative emotions, nothing, possibly not even a personal connection. Just a sense of duty to maintain the status quo. Possibly, but not necessarily, this person believes authority is inherently good and should not be questioned or defied at all, or if there are two clashing authorities, the one that came first is the one that's right.
I've made a new category for it. Feel free to remove it if it DOES align with one of the others.
Edited by ZombieAladdinCan we add alternate gender nicknames for each of the subcategories (i. e. Petty Patty)? I think that would make sense.
Hide / Show RepliesOr at the very least add "Stool Pigeon" as an alt title to "The Stool Pigeon"? That would make the most sense.
I really don't like that searching for "Whistleblower" leads to an article titled "Stool Pigeon"! There is a *very* negative connotation to the term stool pigeon, whereas a Whistleblower is someone who risks their job, and often their safety, to expose cortuption. The whole idea that someone helping the authorities bring down the bad guys is somehow a *bad* thing just doesn't sit well. Should we have separate articles, or should this one be retitled? I could see The Informant or The Inside Source or somesuch, too, with Whistleblower being a subcategory. We could even have Stool Pigeon be a subcategory too, but it *really* doesn't fit for Stool Pigeon to be the umbrella term!
