I know TV Tropes is seriously nipping Real Life mentions in the bud due to some being subjective, per Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment, but can we at least get the sports mentions back and make a general Sports section?

- In 1996, Triple H took the blame for the "Curtain Call" incident that saw himself and then-WWF Champion Shawn Michaels say goodbye to their Real Life-friends Kevin Nash (Diesel) and Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) as they depart to WCW. As a result, Triple H was demoted to jobber status for a while. Ironically, before the incident, he was supposed to win that year's King of the Ring tournament (that honor would go to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and the rest is history)
Triple H wasn't scapegoated; he took the heat for the Curatain Call. Hall and Nash couldn't be punished because they were already leaving the company. Michaels was protected by virtue of being the champion: punishing him would disrupt too many storylines. Triple H was the only one who could be punished, so he was. No one thinks the Curtain Call was Helmsley's "fault."

Shitty as the tactic may be no matter what, could you imagine how effective the "whipping boy" tactic would be if the prince it was being used for was The Empath?
