Angie Nickinson: Has anyone here read the book? It is tons different than the movie. However, both are still pretty awesome in their own right. The movie is definitely Darker And Edgier than the book.

Anyone else here get rendered nearly unable to throw anything out after watching this? Insane it may be, but I still feel bad when I scrap old stuff thanks to watching this repeatedly as a child.

Angie Nickinson: I'm pretty sure by now this show warrants a Nightmare Fuel page. Anyone else agree? If so, I'll make one myself.

Yes, it does. Just separate its examples out from whatever other Nightmare Fuel pages it's on and go for it.

Angie Nickinson: What about adding the Fridge Horror entries to Nightmare Fuel? There are about 10000000 of those too.

Those of you arguing over the Ambiguous Gender / Viewer Gender Confusion issue may be interested to know that the Toaster's (non) gender is an actual plot point in the book. While in the woods, the group run into a pair of friendly married squirrels. The idea of the Toaster not being either male or female is alien and somewhat offensive to their sensibilities. Eventually they both conclude the Toaster does have a gender, but they don't agree on which — the female squirrel thinks the Toaster is female and the male squirrel thinks the Toaster is male. It turns out they are seeing their own reflection in the Toaster's shiny surface. Realizing there is no way to make the truth clear to them, the Toaster tries to ease their minds by going to each of them privately and making them swear total secrecy to what they're about to hear: the girl squirrel is told that the toaster is likewise female and the boy squirrel learns that the toaster is male (just as they'd both surmised). The Toaster can only hope that they never compare notes, before the group departs.

So, thus, I propose that if you feel the Toaster must have a binary gender, it's the same gender as you.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

EVERYONE CAN SHUT UP ABOUT IT FOREVER NOW OKAY?

That... was the idea... plus a little Does This Remind You Of Anything? It was kind of funny to me that the arguments here sort of mirrored that.
