This trope sometimes gets added to anime/cartoon/etc pages to link to an abridged series of them. Should there be a note or rule about that on the page, saying "Don't add this trope to the main page of the original work to link it to an abridged series. Only add if the work itself is an abridged series"? I do know sometimes it gets added to Trivia pages for the original work. Is that allowed, and if so, should that be the note instead?
Hide / Show RepliesTo tell the truth, I don't think it should be listed anywhere on a work page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanEDIT: I forgot that TV Tropes was a bastion of NICE on the Internets! The replies I've gotten have increased my heart three sizes today. This website is made of LOVE AND PEACE! Additional reference! So I've sweetened up my remarks from the original half-snark.
You know what I'd love, guys? A worth-watching list thing. Not in the article, obviously. But in here.
Okay, I'll start with stuff I've seen and liked.
Little Kuriboh's Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto:
- Yu-Gi-Oh! YES! The leader, the forerunner, the troublemaker.
- Naruto. Sure! He's experimenting, but it's still funny.
The Team Four Star's Dragonball Abridged: Also yeah! The action is just action, so not necessarily funny, but still not bad. The rest is quite good, especially the way they've twisted minor characters into full-on spotlight stealers (Evil Mr. Popo!)
hbi2k's Berserk Abridged: Great original series, very good abridged series. The author actually goes over the plot, which I always think all abridged series should do. On the other hand...
Full Metal Chao's The Abridging of Haruhi Suzumiya: ...doesn't really discuss the plot at all! So if you don't know the original, you're sort of in the dark. I still really enjoyed it, though, because of the quality voice acting and (I'm gonna be honest) the hilarious and Ear Worm-iriffic title sequence. Tom Jones and anime dances. Like cereal and milk.
Edited by 68.36.151.15 Hide / Show RepliesAntfish, Dark Side Incorporated and Gutted Wren Studios are just 3 to throw out there. They rarely disappoint.
Gan Xingba's Avatar Abridged is a must-watch. Stick with it past the first episode (which is iffy). In fact, that's good advice for any abridged series.
Antonio LWAA Snyan's Little Women Anime Abridged Series is a must watch as well!:)
My favorite abridged serises are Sailor Moon Abridged and Wedding Peach Abridged for precisely what this site defines as distinctive about them. The humor comes mainly from making fun of and lampshadeing the show's own characters and tropes. And less dependent on random pop culture memes, though they have some which I do enjoy.
What other Abridged serises have that quality? I love Meta Humor.
Edited by 65.29.233.157 Hide / Show RepliesLittle women anime abridged series(LWAAS)! Watch it! You will love it!:)
Can you add my abridged series to your list please? It's called Little Women Anime Abridged Series or LWAAS for short! Here it is: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL35h70CSPYDSrsHMQZ2T1pLiNplEoBsjk Enjoy!
Hide / Show RepliesYou can do so yourself, if you can write up a good example.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI didn't get the stinger "bridge joke". Can someone explain it to me ?
Is abridging a dying trend or something? 9/10 of the ones I've ever seen never finish.
"AXEL ON STAAAAGE!" Hide / Show RepliesSturgeon's Law. 9/10 of them aren't that good, and think also about how many unfinished fanfics there are.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Would an Abridged Seres comic strip on Deviant Art be awesome?
Hide / Show RepliesWell, I'm sure there are people who would like it. But wouldn't it be like Darths And Droids, then? Without the roleplaying, I mean.
Edited by Yoyoddd Why did they burry the fireman behind the tree? BECAUSE HE'S DEAD!I don't know how old the Yu-Gi-Oh one is, but there's a german one called "Sinnlos im Weltraum", a fandubbing of Star Trek TNG made back in 1994 and put on the internet in 2002. I'm not too sure if it fits this category (because I never watched any of those listed here - not at all an anime fan), but I'm pretty sure it would predate YGO and therefore be an Older Than They Think
Hide / Show RepliesWas it edited to abridge it?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yeah, it is. The question is: Are non-English-language Abridged Series allowed here? I know, e.g., the Series from Coldmirror (A German producer of Harry Potter Abridged Series. She does all the voices and has produced parodies of the 1st and the 2nd Harry Potter films yet. A parody of the 4th one is being produced right now). The sources are obviously im German, but I hope, my fellow German speaking colleagues here will be glad to contribute. If you do drugs... Don't to roshnah!!When making trope examples regarding abridged series, in which folder do we put it? Because I have seen abridged series trope examples under New Media, Fan Works, Web Original and even in Anime and Manga or whatever is abridged (usually under the parodied work). Or is it time to make an entire folder for Abridged Series (granted, there are many abridged series now that it can warrant a folder to itself)
Hide / Show RepliesI tried making a whole new folder, but some really got upset about it.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I propose getting rid of D Grayman Abridged and put it down there with the links. There's nothing in it but a lame desrciption (by the creator himself, probably) and the series itself only has 6 episodes and hasn't been updated since the summer.
There are a lot of links in this article, and it seems like a vast majority of them have only a couple of episodes and haven't updated in years. Maybe we should do a pruning and cut out the ones that obviously died before they were ever really started? Something like anything with less than 6 episodes that also hasn't updated in over a year gets cut?
