I've seen a couple of these, I figured they were Adaptational Jerkass
If the character are just simply making smug and/or angry expression that are obviously very OOC in ads that are not for exporting purpose, does it still count?
Edited by SeekerSSI feel like the Teen Titans Go cartoon is practically all about the silver age version of this Trope.
Who's actually gotten a virus from the site? It isn't ticking off any of my scanners. I think who ever reported might have clicked on one of the many advertisements there.
mechas64castles.net >> Blog, news, articles, databases, oddities, personal stuff Hide / Show RepliesYeah I'm interested in hearing about any cases too. Though even if the site does have malware due to ads, the warning should be still kept.
Also since the site is reported to have malware, should we replace all the links to the mirror site instead of the main one?
Edited by Goldfish2Since there hasn't been any replies, I've removed some of the direct links to the main site before the warning appears (URL will be kept just not as a hotlink) to prevent anyone from reading in getting malware (well those who don't use noscript + adblock or so). Feel free to revert the edits though if anyone disagrees that it is needed.
I haven't removed the ones in the example yet though.
Edited by Goldfish2It looks like the original site is hacked and/or dead..
Hide / Show RepliesI just thought of a possible Forum game based on this trope! Go to a Fan Art site for your favorite work (or just Deviant Art) and pick out a picture that is obviously OOC. Then try to craft a story using that pic as a cover.
Yes, I know, I'm probably Late to the Punchline... but still...
Ketchum's corollary to Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced tactic is indistinguishable from blind luck.Aren't most of the examples - all of the film ones, for a start - simply superheroes being dicks instead of the marketing tactic described in the trope?
OMG, an interrobang!
. . .Sorry, I just found that pretty cool (the question/mark exclamation thing after "How could this be"). Made of Win to the troper who added that.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled life-ruining.
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future. . . .
