Im confused the by the trope image.

The image implies that the person holding the pistol has been firing at the target at very close range, yet with poor accuracy as based on the shots on the target. It fits with the trope of being unable to use a long range weapon at a long range.

Not sure whether this happened, but was there also one point in Andromeda which suggested that one reason everybody uses effectors is that they could intercept unguided bullets at a range allowing such adjustment? My hazy memory of this involved a brief enumeration of force lance attack modes that included automatic programming of effectors to intercept incoming fire.
