I'm not sure the Gypsy as depicted in Fiction really is the same thing as the Romany people.

It should be added, that the term gypsies was used for members of different ethinic groups. With the roma (and the Sinti) only being the most important and biggest groups. However, while gypsie is certainly always wrong, Roma or Sinti also shouldn't be used for these who aren't either.

"First and most insulting, "Gypsies" are usually dishonest: thieves, pickpockets, con-men, trespassers, and all-around tricksters who wouldn't think twice about taking everything you own that isn't nailed down (and a few things that are). "

Yeah, and it's also very very sad when there are quite a few of them who try their best to prove this stereotype true.

Why isn't there a folder for examples from music? Is there a reason I don't know about? The Roma have such an amazing musical heritage, and there are plenty of songs about Roma as well, which only gets glossed over in the article.

That's not "related to...", that's "featuring..." Though there are some. Including at lest one translation of Kipling's verses sung on music.

Why is this page pro-gypsy, shouldn't it be neutral?

How the hell is this page pro-Gypsy? Pointing out the myths and prejudice about the Roma does not a biased article make.

I think it would be prudent to change the name of the article to "Romani" because "Roma" only refers to a subgroup who live mainly in Eastern Europe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people#English_usage (take a look at the graphic) http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_feminism/521413.html

(Also I don't quite know if this is the appropriate place to request this change, if not sorry.)
