Artemis92: In the "40 reasons" thing that the page links to, the picture at the bottom of the first page doesn't show(the character in it is referred to as "quadzilla"). I'm just curious. If anybody knows what the picture is, could they please post a link to it?

Joe Kelly is credited as the co-creator of Deadpool on this page. It should be changed to Fabien Niceza.

So it appears the one Liefeld fanboy still in existence has mod privileges on TV Tropes. Those who disparage Liefeld are listed as "Hate Dumb" and the backlash against Liefeld is attributed to Seinfeld Is Unfunny. Real mature.

Liefeld is not "Seinfeld Is Unfunny." Seinfeld Is Unfunny is when a groundbreaking work loses its appeal over time because it is so heavily imitated that what it added to its genre is no longer really acknowledged by the masses. Liefeld added nothing of merit to comic books. As this article itself points out, he didn't even really invent any of the styles or tropes he apparently popularized and while he may have created "Deadpool" he has nothing to do with what makes that character good these days. Deadpool could have just as easily been created out of any other carbon copy stock Nineties Anti Hero.

He was never good. He was a man of juvenile tastes and a lazy creator with limited skills and a defective style.

Its not wrong to like him. You are not dumb or inferior for liking him. But he was never actually good. You have to admit that to yourself.

In fact, just to make it clear, Liefeld is really the reverse of "Seinfeld Is Unfunny" since he is credited with things he didn't add to the medium, hated or loved. He's a Trope Codifier at most.
