I think the Trunchbull Method would be a better name for it as she's the best example of how to do this trope right.

I think i found a quote that better suits this trope may i please add it to the top?

What's it called (probably related to this) when a character makes a suggestion that's way over the top just so that his peers/superiors will agree to an action they'd otherwise find objectionable but is less extreme by comparison?

We don't have such a trope yet. Maybe Lost And Found knows.

Is Refuge In Audacity related to Unfortunate Implications such that there are so many Unfortunate Implications in a work, it's ended up being averted?

Perhaps sometimes, but in general... not really. Unfortunate Implications implies the presence of, well, implications. As in, subtleties. There is NOTHING subtle about Refuge in Audacity

The page image is extremely NSFW, what with the topless chick (I don't care if it's a transgender, it looks like a woman) and all. Can we get a new image please so I don't get yelled at for looking it up?

Speaking of which, where is it? There was more to this page too, with a VERY funny contrast to Getting Crap Past the Radar; what happened to that?

ALJ, are you sure about your entry on Berlusconi? I mean, Refuge In Audacity is meant to be funny, but this psycho-dwarf is not funny. I know what I'm talking about, I've put up with him since 1991. Thinking again, forget what I've said. I'll add another quote on him. George Orwell turned in his grave when the fright said it, so let's give him justice and destroy his reputation even more by putting it on the Internet.

Re: the link in the picture's caption to Dropped A Bridget On Him, on the word 'transgender'. I'm not at all familiar with the character, but surely, unless her plotline(s) involve(d) significant in-story Bridget Dropping, a link to Transsexual would be more appropriate?

I'd like to suggest a new trope similar to this one: The Summoner's Game.

Basically, the concept that, when a wizard summons a demon or other creature that he has to put forth a display of overwhelming confidence and even arrogance in the hopes of convincing said creature that they have the power to force them to obey.

At times, the summoner's game is a constant game of posturing by both summoner and creature that lasts until either the creature is sent away or the summoner blinks and loses control.

Out of curiousity, what movie is Ebert referring to in the page quote?
