"Many quotes will be presented in This Is Sparta format, when it wasn't said like that." And indeed the script to Fiddler on the Roof doesn't have the punctuation quoted below:

  • Fiddler on the Roof: "Now I have piece of advice for you: This. Is still. My land. Get. Off. My. Land." When Tevye gets angry, flies don't dare to fly.

No mention of Suikoden II in the video games? It's one of the worst examples of this trope (also excessive punctuation in almost every line). It has a lot of lines like this (taken from a gameplay guide - yes, there really are up to eight exclamation marks after each word):

Die! Die!!! Die!!!!

Pig!!!! Die!!!!!!!!!

Pig!! Pig!!! Pig!!!! Pig!!!!! Piiiiiiiiiiig!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who thinks this trope is getting out of hand? Practically any and every punctual statement ever sounded out by anyone potholes here, and it's getting redundant. SoYeah has been taken out, and I thought that was a pretty nice Stock Phrase. Is this trope really necessary?

I think the trope itself has relevance, as a very distinctive way to express defiance or anger (quiet and measured, as opposed to just screaming at random). But potholing it to every emphasised phrase... yeah, overkill.

That's a good assessment, I think. I suppose there's not really anything to be done about it (though I still found the SoYeah potholes more endearing than anything).

An issue with the trope in general is that people have started using it for any one who just gets loud. This trope needs a major clean up, and it needs to no longer be a self demonstrating article, or write one that isn't, just so people don't get confused.

I pruned a bunch that simply didn't fit, mostly by virtue of simply being loud rather than having the distinct pause and emphasis of each word.

Um.... the Escaflowne TV series. It happened, in like episode 1. Van Fanel screaming "YOU! ARE! MINE!"
