I believe your description of the examples is correct.
But examples are REALLY all over the place, the most common of which that I'm finding is "someone is stronger than an enemy through sheer power." The name, while really fun, is really not doing it any favors.

The examples for this are a mess. Some seem to be "a character knows kung fu", some are "a character boasts about their superior training", some are about Charles Atlas Superpower, one is just a character using this phrase metaphorically to describe his hacking skills...
What is the basic trope here?

I think it's supposed to be "a character, formerly weak, trained to become stronger and then goes back to an enemy who beat him."

I'm having trouble understanding what this trope is supposed to be...
By the name, I would assume it refers to someone who believes their fighting style is inherently stronger than another. By the (far too brief) description, I would assume it refers to series where a persons martial or physical prowess is improved only via strength training, as opposed to trying to increase their skill in the art itself. By the examples it seems... like... it refers to anyone that wishes to become better at their art to reach a goal or overcome an obstacle (which seems fairly realistic to me, personally)?
