"Supersonic" means a) faster than the speed of sound or b) (colloquial) ultrasonic, that is, too high to hear.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/supersonic http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/supersonic

"Supersonics" with an "s" in the end means the study/technology of either.

The trope, however, is pretty clearly about just sound superpowers. Hence, it should not be described with the term "supersonic(s)". I'll see if I can fix the wording. It won't actually be changing the intended definition.

First paragraph of description before changes (emphasis added):

The power of supersonics. Able to shatter glass, crumble rocks, and knock down buildings. Er, in the world of fiction, anyways. Characters who have supersonic screams or other sound-based superpowers can usually do something like vocal mimicry, scream out sonic booms, and screech so loud it can paralyze people by making their eardrums bleed.

New version:

Does this trope cover supersonic powers that aren't caused by your voice? For instance, a magical chime capable of shattering stone? If so, the name might be a bit misleading.

This Tropes namer is missing. The song "Make Me Wanna Shout". Add it and edit the article?
