Guys, Millar's other work The Good Fairies of New York is at risk of being cut if no one can come up with a trope list for it. Help needed urgently. Fast Eddie's patience is (forgive the pun) fast running out on it.

Kalix really doesn't meet the criteria for a Mary Sue anymore than any other Wangsty emo teen hero. She has major flaws, screws up and suffers for the screw ups, and grows substantially as a character over the course of the book. Narration even notes when she is pulling on the wangst. Her character arc is all about her realising that a lot of her problems are wangst and moving beyond it, which she gradually does. The Kalix from the gig and set piece battle is a far cry from the Kalix at the start of the book. The sequel is set to take it further, but since Amazon haven't delivered it yet I can't go further right now.

The noble werewolf thing doesn't count because it's a book about the politics of the werewolf royal family. Nearly all the werewolves are nobles. She does have the born on a full moon in wolf shape, but that just gives her a berserker nature, and it is not unique as the werewolf hunters note they've dealt with those before, it's just rare. It doesn't give her any special advantage in werewolf society.

The character most likely to meet Mary Sue criteria is Moonglow.

Make up your minds and settle down! Try for neutrality if you can.
