"The trope may have a slight Freudian Excuse, at least in anime; after WWII, the Japanese constitution was amended to outlaw all public exposure of male genitalia (which of course led to the codification of Naughty Tentacles) or pubic hair, but not female genitalia"

Not quite correct, and actually more unfortunate. It outlawed female genitalia too (hence the blank crotch of most anime females) but not children's genitalia. Precisely why is not recorded.

It probably never crossed their mind at the time.

Because they didn't want to criminalize innocent pictures of naked babies.

Since it's a redirect and all, I was going to add in a brief mention of how internet slang has memetically mutated the word "loli" into a term for preteen girls in general, even if the character is never used for lolicon Fanservice. It's kind of a misuse of the term (hence why we changed our minds about things like calling Little Miss Snarker Deadpan Loli), and using it for a nonsexualized character is basically Bleached Underpants applied to language, but it's still reasonably common.

I can't do this, though, because it's locked. If some administrative type who does have posting access could do that for me, it would be appreciated.

This may be odd nitpicking, but the characterization of Nabokov's Lolita seems off. To say she was "no means unwilling or innocent in the affair" is rather misleading — for most of the book, especially post-Enchanted Hunters visit, she seems rather disgusted and embarrassed by HH's attentions, to the point where he quite cheerfully admits to raping her in exchange for permission to participate in activities. In a sense, the original novel is a deconstruction of the trope; shouldn't that be mentioned instead of making it sound like it's thematically similar to actual Lolicon?

Two suggestions:

1. Change the trope name to its English equivalent: pedophile/pedophilia. proof, proof, proof, and more proof (if you input "ロリコン" or "lolita complex").

2. Mention that the bulk of lolicon material is released direct to video to avoid censorship; Japanese TV -an Japanese society in general- has little more toleration for it than any other country.
