For some countries, Citizenship Comes from the Father due to this trope. One example is Malaysia, where the people are fighting for the right of children born to Malaysian mothers and foreign fathers to be recognised as Malaysians.

Cut due to not being an example: there's very little to suggest player's abilities are that dependant on genetics, and noone has a direct line of descent to anyone; it's all genetic engineery- timey- dimensional stuff.

  • Averted in Homestuck. Players' abilities depend on genetics but come from both of their ectobiological parents for humans (i.e., John's aspect (Breath) is related both to Jake's (Hope) and Jane's (Life)) and from their (same-sex) Ancestor for trolls, (i.e. Kankri / The Sufferer for Karkat, Porrim / The Dolorosa for Kanaya).

Don't ask me, I just fix wicks. Hide / Show Replies

Its not a result of the male writter popluation. I have seen female writers who use this trope because its older than feudalism. If your setting is in a Medeval European setting The power structure is male and the people are white or at least predominately white. If that isnt the case your setting is based on somewhere that isnt medeval Europe.
