There's a number of examples that I don't think are this trope. Basically, if the parent's homicidal insanity isn't directed towards protecting their child, it's not this, right? But several examples seem to be about parents who direct said homicidal insanity at their child, although the only one I'm really familiar enough to be sure of is Carrie's mother.
