It's interesting reading the original book and comparing the protagonist to Vincent Price and Will Smith in their respective movies (I haven't seen The Omega Man yet so I cannot comment there). In the book, Robert Neville is a factory worker. In the movies, he's turned into a scientist. In the book, his only real sign of sophistication is his listening to classical music. Otherwise, he's a heavy drinker and smoker who agonizes at night over the women outside and contemplates giving himself over just so that he can have sex again. In the movies, he's urbane and civilized, devoted to figuring out the cause of the plague from the beginning. ^_^ Nothing terribly deep, just thought the differences were rather striking.
