The game Allods has this trope too. If you want to unlock teleportation to a specific spot, you must defeat the Genie of that spot to earn its respect. Or so it used to be.

And since the world of Allods was shattered into islands (please check Lore), every chunk is separated of one another by what appears to be Hyperspace, instead of regular space. You can sail between those with your ship and crew.

Of course, Eldritch Abominations abound between safe ports for those using their floating ships...

The entry for Babylon 5 includes this statement: "You also have to worry about the fact that if your ship is destroyed in the middle of jumping either into realspace or hyperspace, you'll be stuck in that moment eternally." In which episode or movie was this established? I know the B5 saga rather well, and I don't recall anything like it.

I haven't been able to find any basis in the series for that claim, and no one has offered any. So I'm deleting it.

Why, exactly, is everything being red-linked?

Edit: and then it fixes itself. Hmm.

Oi, could someone find a picture from Third Edition of Warhammer 40000 for this trope? It would fit rather nicely.

I know I'm super late to this one, but this seems a good fit: [1]
