Does this trope only apply to the protagonist of a work? I mean, heroes can be horrifying and not be the main character...
So the difference between this and Terror Hero? Terror Hero uses fear against his enemies and people just run in terror of the horrifying hero? Wouldn't this then be more like All the Other Reindeer if that is the distinction?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture Rack Hide / Show RepliesThis trope was made before Terror Hero, if that means anything to you. Also this is more about physical appearance and species. The Hero is literally some horrifying monster or eldritch entity. Terror hero is just about a hero's tactics for getting the job done, in this case fear. They are totally different and don't always occur together.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Would Anti-Venom from Spider-Man count as a Horrifying Hero, considering he is a color-inverted version of Venom, and thus has the Lovecraftian superpowers, More Teeth than the Osmond Family, and claws to go with it in addition to being able to cure people of illnesses, parasites, etc.? In a recent arc, he was taken aback when a criminal interrupted his "The Reason You Suck" Speech telling him to run away and was utterly shocked that the crook was more afraid of the Wraith than he was of him.
Edited by Nulled Hide / Show RepliesSounds like he does.

Would the demon Crowley in Good Omens count?
