Can someone tell me why this page is locked?
06:31:57 PM Jan 14th 2015
Nevermind, I was actually on the wrong page! I thought I was trying to edit the main page for You're Next.
01:19:03 AM Jan 15th 2015
Yeah, we are having some difficulty with the editing URL.
07:09:57 PM Jan 11th 2015
Hey, I'd like to create a Dutch version of the home page, seeing as there are already other versions in other languages, how'd I go about doing that, and who should I talk to for permission, etc?
01:50:42 AM Jan 12th 2015
I don't think you need permission. Maybe ask this forum for help.

Is there a trope yet about when a crazy/insane/unstable person says something that sounds insane in itself yet really is the situation? Like, a group of people that maybe look well fed or presentable or maybe look like an army are being led somewhere in an encampment when a hero shows up. One man in the group sees him, recognizes he can help, runs up to him, and screams "they keep us as slaves! We're here against our will!" Or something like that, and then rambles on as he's pulled away. The hero is then told that he's unstable or crazy. Turns out, that guy was right, and the entire encampment is treated horribly in slave-like conditions. The hero then saves the day, or something like that. I couldn't find something that describes that (at least, with way fewer words), so I was wondering what it was. I've definitely seen some things like it, like in Outlast or some post-apocalyptic movie.any whereabouts of the subject?

I dunno, but the Trope Finder is the place for such questions.
07:35:13 AM Sep 17th 2014
Hi, can anyone tell me how can I find who put the tropes in Gretzky has the Ball?
09:15:10 AM Sep 17th 2014

you need to check the page history. The "history" button to be specific.
01:39:22 PM Sep 30th 2014
But most of the history has been deleted. How can I find the previous history?
02:53:36 PM Sep 30th 2014
Yeah, if it's not on that history then it can't be traced back.
08:35:43 AM Oct 1st 2014
Oh, I see. Well, how will I find the history that has been deleted?
10:31:18 AM Oct 1st 2014
You can't. If it's not on that history it's only on several restricted-use tools.
05:18:55 PM Oct 1st 2014
Like what kind of tools, exactly?

Hello. I am desperately looking for the topic that contains (or once contained?) an image of a very sharply-dressed DOG. I can't seem to remember its name, but it probably had to be some sort of Costume Trope.

Can somebody please help me? Thanks!

you may use Lost and Found for such queries.

Hi. They are trying to bring back SOPA again https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-sopa-2014/q0Vkk0Zr What I want to know is if this should be placed on the main page as it would affect the entire site if passed.
02:35:47 AM Mar 15th 2014

That'd be a discussion for the Wiki Talk forum.

Is there a trope for teachers complaining they don't make enough money because I've seen this in so many works and it's also truth in television.

Hi. There's no proper place on here to put this; I hope here is ok. I happened upon this site tonight looking for an answer to a particular question I had about FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS which I am currently watching in a loop to get through bad times. I'm not a writer and I only very generally understand how this site works. I just want to say that the page on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is a treat. It's spot on about the characters and the relationships. And all tropes, including the ones that are modified, are accurate. I guess there's not one person to thank for this — as you can see, I don't fully get how all this is done — but it was a pleasure to read. Thank you.
01:19:47 AM Oct 22nd 2013
That's great to hear. :) And if you want to add to the page yourself, feel free! Welcome to TV Tropes should have all the information you need.
02:15:05 PM Oct 18th 2013
Someone seriously needs to create pages for James Lovegrove's Pantheon books. It must happen!

You can do so yourself — see How To Create A Work Page. Good luck!

Someone made this page, which I'm sure is going to be nothing more than annoying flame bait and unfortunately I could not find a list of mods/admins I could contact though.

Is there a trope for the scene in which there's a pile of TV sets (screens facing outward, not up or down) in a messy/dark/abandoned-looking room, and all the TVs then turn on after some character walks into the room, and the character sees what the TVs are showing (maybe communicating with/watching/listening to someone on the other end)?

For example, I just saw this in an episode of Cowboy Bebop (episode 23 "Brain Scratch" to be precise), but I remember seeing this type of scene in another film/anime. I'm sure this is another trope that can be written about.

Update: I've posted this in Lost and Found.
07:09:21 PM Apr 18th 2013
I wonder, is there a trope for a situation where the hero fights countless minions of the villain and is expected to have an epic final battle with the villain at the end of the story, but instead not only does such a battle not happen, but also the villain accidentally kills himself in an unexpected way in an attempt to get rid of the hero?
04:52:50 PM May 20th 2013
You should go to YKTTW instead. You'd get better results there. Or the Lost and Found.
06:18:59 AM Mar 26th 2013
Should there be a trope for "Super-Sanity"? By the definition I got in the Arkham Asylum comic, it is the phenomena whereby a character loses the plot so they can better adapt to their surroundings. Some examples include: -The Joker -HIMYM's Barney Stinson (His transition from hippy to yuppie reeks of this) -Everybody Loves Raymond's Frank Barone (The only character who isn't scared of Marie) -Death Note's genius characters such as Light, L, Near and Mello (all geniuses with severe personality flaws) -Ash in the Evil Dead series (laughing with the haunted furniture, his cartoonish antics in "Army of Darkness")
07:28:28 AM Mar 26th 2013
You want YKTTW for this kind of query/suggestion. Good luck!
12:55:14 PM Dec 20th 2012
Does anyone here know if there is a trope like this: a new character who is similar to a character in another story, and is also placed in a similar situation. However, whereas the first character dies in the story, the second character survives?
01:48:09 PM Dec 20th 2012
Look in Lost and Found.
06:45:12 PM Dec 5th 2012
Does anyone know if there is a trope name for when two people who are attracted to each other and probably aren't dating accidentally fall asleep next to each other and wake up in a cuddle?
07:18:47 PM Dec 5th 2012

This kind of question will likely get more answers in Lost and Found.

You aren't the only one. Specify in that thread what browser and version you're using so that Eddie can get to fixing it if it's not something local. In the meantime, try disabling any script blockers, since forbidding google.com and googleapis.com means no results will be returned.

I've been trying to make a Trope Page for "Maybe I'm a Lion" by Dullahan on Beast Lair. For some reason, the site isn't cooperating.

Are there any tips to help with this?
08:28:14 PM Jun 9th 2012
Accidentally redirected the sandbox to here, not understanding what a redirect is or how it works, due to that being my first edit ever.

As embarrassed as I am, nothings going to be done to fix it unless it gets fixed, so how do I fix it when I can't get to the sandbox?
12:23:42 AM Jun 10th 2012
It's been fixed for you.

To remove or edit a redirect, you have to go to Namespace/PageWithRedirect?action=edit. In this case, the full URL you needed was http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WikiSandbox?action=edit — as long as the page in question isn't locked, and the Wiki Sandbox never is, that'll open the editing screen on the page with the redirect. You can then remove it and save your changes.

Anyway, welcome to TV Tropes! Hope you enjoy your time here, though you won't have much free time left. °_^

I'm trying to find out if there's a term for the anime type of a guy who looks intimidating, but is actually very sweet. Examples from anime and manga would be Mori and Ritsu Kasanoda from Ouran high school host club, Sweden from Hetalia and Kojiro Banbi from Ai Ore!

If you want to start a new trope, take it to YKTTW.
01:49:27 PM Jun 3rd 2011
Is there a trope about arbitrary gun specs in video games?(Call of Duty is a major offender) wherein because reliabily, ergonomics and weight, the biggest factors of same-caliber guns, aren't represented, thus the designers assign wildly different stats of accuracy, range, power, etc on guns of the same caliber and near-same barrel length?
05:40:40 PM Jun 3rd 2011
You want Lost and Found.
03:13:21 AM May 16th 2011
I have a question: I once saw someone put a list of Tropes that apply to themselves on there account page. How can I do that? I haven't been able to figure out how.
01:44:58 AM May 26th 2011
Haven't tried it meself, but checking the sources of these pages should give you a template of sorts.
11:46:21 AM May 15th 2011
Is there a trope about a game that tends to make everyone screw each other over really bad? (i.e. New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Party, etc...) It just seems that every video I see of NSMBW, someone kills their partner or themselves intentionally.
08:13:06 AM May 12th 2011
We now have the bit about not being negative, snide and sarcastic on the front page? It's apparently that big of a problem we need to have it mentioned on the front page and not just in the rules for posting on the wiki elsewhere?
04:36:29 AM Jun 3rd 2011
If you don't say nice things constantly, some evil company will come and sue us and shut our lil' wiki down. Oh noes!
04:29:36 AM Jun 9th 2011
Well, being extremly negative in the examples isn't cool, but I don't see the problem with being sarcastic.
02:21:03 PM Jun 22nd 2011
Because Fast Eddie has let the wiki's success go to his head and is convinced that everyone will do what he says if he just makes it clear enough.
06:57:29 PM Sep 26th 2011
So... are you saying that this wiki should be WhineLand?
12:20:06 PM Sep 29th 2011
...No. I was just saying it was slightly odd to have a diatribe against a type of poster on the front page. It just feels kinda random there, honestly.

I was talking in general. Each new decision which helps to improve the wiki is followed with a lot of Tropers Law invoking and "They Changed It, Now It Sucks" moaning. And, frankly, those attitudes don't help in the slightest.
09:58:08 AM May 10th 2011
How is "Trope" pronounced?
11:30:57 AM May 10th 2011
Exactly how it looks.
11:17:59 AM May 11th 2011
/trōp/ Pronunciation is in the dictionary as well.
06:13:11 PM May 2nd 2011
So the front page says "This wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction."

Except this isn't right. This wiki not only covers tropes from works of fiction, but non-fiction as well, including those from real life. In fact, if the very name of the wiki is to be taken literally, this description has always been wrong, as it means (I believe) "tropes" in the sense of being cliches. These being exclusive to fiction is hardly the case, even on TV.

So, uh. What's up with that?
07:18:18 PM May 2nd 2011
Our wiki does not cover Real Life. Real Life examples are just a side-effect, tolerated as long as they don't become too problematic.
10:41:31 PM Apr 21st 2011

I'm planning on making a YKTTW page called Food As Reward, but right now, I'm stuck on examples. I can only think of maybe two or three examples right now. If anyone can please help me out, I'd be very grateful.
01:59:19 AM May 4th 2011
You should just make the YKTTW page, other tropers will chip in with examples there.
03:25:56 PM Apr 1st 2011
Okay, I'm not going to say "Fast Eddy sucks wah wah wah". I see the intentions there, and mods do much more good than harm. That, and I know that Eddy isn't the only to decide things about this wiki (despite rumors...).

But my problem is this: When I was trying to write an article for Jellote, things like strike: and white: did not work. They were needed to make the article work. Now, it looks like gibberish. And the weird thing is, on Sir Ron Lionheart, strike: works. And why did we do away with these links? Because people were misusing them. As I am a firm disbeliever in allowing some people to ruin things for everyone, I think these changes do more harm than good. I don't want to undo what the mods do. I just want the wiki to be as useful as it could be.
07:12:26 PM May 2nd 2011
Pages only obey new markup rules after they are saved. So if that page wasn't saved recently, it may still have old markup left. And there is no article that cannot be written properly without whiteout or strike markup.

You just called Crowning Moment of Awesome a non-trope. I could deal with your petty trolling when people criticize the direction the site's taken, as well as people's response to Fast Eddie's mod policies, but now you have genuinely offended me. Who are you to decide what is and isn't a trope?
04:07:28 PM Apr 28th 2011
Because it's not a trope, it's a place to list what you think is the most awesome thing that happened in a work.

Being a trope dosen't make you any better than any other page on the wiki. Like The Scrappy, it's an intesesting thing to note but it's not a trope, it's a reaction the fans had.

It's fine if you like it, but the term has been used so liberally * it lost all meaning to some people.

This why it's listed in the awesome tab: pepole who are sick of it don't have to read it and people who do like it have a little playground where they are free to discuss what they like.

02:32:25 PM May 2nd 2011
^^ Read Subjective Tropes and familiarize yourself with the definition of "trope".
02:18:07 PM Jun 22nd 2011
You're most definitely not alone, friendo. Seriously, I call for a whole new regime of moderators, all of the ones we've got are idiots.
02:20:22 PM Jun 22nd 2011
Good lord, give it the hell up already. It's not going to happen, and you all look like frigging babies when you keep whining about it like this. So please, just cut it the fuck out.

Can someone, please answer, why is it okay to use "retarded" as an insult like I see in many pages of this Wiki, even though it's COMPLETELY UNFAIR AND RUDE to people who actually suffer mental retardation?

Think about, I for example am autistic, and I seriously want to cry whenever I see people using the R-word.

I doubt the usage of "gay" as an insult would last long in ANY article. Why the Double Standard?
03:27:51 PM Apr 28th 2011
There is no where on the site saying it's allowed.

Change it if you see it.
03:56:07 PM Mar 13th 2011

Did anyone noticed that in nearly 90% of all available ego shooters and 3D action games the player movement on the map is limited by insuperable cliffs? It's sort of the more attention seeking twin brother of the invisible wall.
05:40:28 PM Dec 15th 2013
That's because cliffs are a much more convincing obstacle than a completely flat plain that somehow magically blocks your path.

I am beginning to see editors deleting entries because someone started it with 'This Troper.' Why not just get rid of the words 'This Troper' for that entry instead? Editing sentences is a middle school level skill. I'm sure the entry would be adequate if revised like that.
10:33:03 PM Mar 5th 2011
Example - * Animation Age Ghetto: This Troper's paper gave a review that praisd the quality of the film...then rated it low for not fitting into the ghetto.
03:37:36 PM Mar 8th 2011
Example - ** This Troper can't be the only one who thought Pascal sounded like the Antlion grubs from Episode 2.
08:54:08 AM Mar 27th 2011
Because "This Troper" sentences are always opinions (which can be written in a review, but NOT OUTSIDE OF TROPER TALES) or shenanigans (which can be written in a Troper Tales page)

In short, TV Tropes is NOT Wikipedia, but at the same time it is NOT an opinion blog or a forum.
04:25:23 PM Feb 25th 2011
is there a trope about someone unable to open a jar——no one can do it in a circle of friends—-and then one character does it easily and inadvertently?
11:21:56 AM Feb 22nd 2011
This is going to sound -uh- rather depressing, but... I'm thinking we should start planning for a big something special for when Terry Pratchett takes the problem with him, if you know what I mean. If Google can do memorial spreads, we can, too. Is there anything planned? As, let's face it, it could be 3 months from now... or 5 years. One thing I thought of was to highlight just how many tropes the guy does cover, by trying to find a quote-for-every-major-trope... Not sure if such a huge re-edit is possible, but, it could be a dedicated page of its own, and not just a quotes page? Just a thought…
02:14:04 PM Jun 22nd 2011
Why? Sure, his works are uber-Troperiffic, but there's no real reason to give any one single author special treatment on this wiki.

I'd stumbled onto this site once or twice and didn't think much of it before, I mean, it looks pretty boring, and navigation is pretty unintuitive due to page titles.

But I just spent two straight days reading tabs upon tabs upon tabs of tropes and I gotta say... this site Took A Level In Awesome.

It's very informative, the pages are utterly hilarious, and it managed to get me really laughing without ever really drifting off into that uncomfortably offensive zone modern comedy so often tends to do when it comes to matters of fictionalized discrimination and the like.

I love the loose and lax atmosphere despite one or two instances of back and forth editing, and the very least, it made me more aware and analytical of the fiction I'm writing.

I'm so glad tv|tropes expanded into anime and video games (that makes it so much more accessible, if not simply ripe for more observational humor), and I really think the site deserves a more attractive layout.

It's definitely become a favorite of mine. Thanks, keep up the good work tropers!
11:57:49 AM Feb 22nd 2011
I'm not sure about that 'more attractive layout' thing - after all, the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) layout is good for those who need to wrench the text in their browsers into weird fonts and sizes just to read it.
03:11:16 PM Feb 16th 2011
is there a trope for the little preview for the next episode where the most hilarity happens and where most of the fourth wrecking balls show up, usually in tandem?

Dude, this isn't the place to ask these kinds of questions. Look at Lost and Found like Spell Blade said.

01:22:46 PM Feb 14th 2011
Probably her troper page.
10:23:41 PM Jan 28th 2011
So lately I've been seeing little pictures of like...I guess they're scales, in front of links such as Narm (just as an example, though I'm not sure it shows up whenever it links or just on specific pages). When and why does this show up?
10:31:34 PM Jan 28th 2011
04:28:43 PM Jan 31st 2011
Yeah, what is it with these changes that us tropers are somehow automatically supposed to know what they do, like some kind of sixth sense?! It's not like everyone visits that page, you know!
09:19:49 PM Jan 16th 2011
Regarding your Melnibone story generator located at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/storygen.php fantasy and scifi games have seen a resurgence in recent years. Turns out it was wholesome fun after all compared to the ills of urban, or suburban living. I think your story generator could benefit greatly from this gentlemans story engine. Click the link for twisted fairytales. http://eversion.com/ and come see us sometime at http://funnyfarmnews.com

W-what are you saying? It looks gramatically correct, but... No Just No.

I'm new here, and I just want to know about making pages for fanfictions. You know, really, really bad ones? XD I found this one, it's basically the Glee version of My Immportal. The author even asked for a reccomendation from us, which I thought was cool. XD

Should we make a page for it, or not? =/
03:35:19 PM Dec 22nd 2010
04:05:36 PM Dec 22nd 2010
I knew that rule, but then I wasn't sure if it applied to fanfics or not, cause otherwise people would just be adding their own fics and that. XD

So do you know how to create a page? Thanks for answering, by the way. =D

Type in the name of your page in the URL after "main", click "edit page", then start writing.

Like so:

(Deleted in favor of the correct namespace given below.).

Just substitute Example Page with the correct title.

Thanks you's two, I got it working. =D

Late reply, but you helped me out as well with figuring out how to add a subpage. Thanks.

Is there anywhere on this site that I can find out about the history of this web site? I am curious as to who started tv tropes, when it was started, the history of tv tropes, things like that. I mean, this site has pages where I can get information on just about anything else, why doesnt it have a page for itself?
03:58:42 PM Dec 15th 2010
This should help a bit. It still doesn't say who founded it though.
05:30:38 PM Dec 15th 2010
thanks, but I was looking more for something from this wiki's perspective.
05:37:42 PM Dec 15th 2010
You can also try the Ask The Tropers section for a more public question.
05:47:24 PM Dec 15th 2010
I tried that already, but I'll try it again. I'm just afraid that if I ask it too many times people will think Im a troll, (and not the Lord of the Rings type)
01:06:17 PM Dec 15th 2010
Does anyone have any hard statistics on just how BIG TV Tropes is? How many pages are there (minus forums, discussions, meta-pages, etc)? How many regular editors? Visitors?
01:43:15 PM Dec 15th 2010
Tempted to just say "Yes" and wander off. ;-)

Answer me this, though, before a serious answer: What is a 'meta-page'?
01:41:36 AM May 26th 2011
My guess would be the WMG, Headscratchers and such of each page.
11:51:05 AM Dec 14th 2010
So, are we supposed to take it to the forums, when the forums are the source problem? Any disagreement there will get shouted down by the usual suspects after all.
12:23:09 PM Dec 14th 2010

What problem?

Nevermind. Yes. We can't improve whatever it is that you think is wrong with the forum without involving the forum.
12:36:15 PM Dec 14th 2010
fair enough. Can I mutter and grumble darkly over a cup of hot chocolate 'til my friends ask me what is bugging me and I say "someone is wrong on the internet" and they point and laugh and throw stuff at me? :o)
12:39:00 PM Dec 14th 2010

Sure. Or you could bring it up in the Wiki Talk forum, where in fact things don't get shouted down.

I just tried, and the thread got locked despite it being civil. So I guess, my point is kinda proven here, suggest change for the fora on the forum and it will be shot down by the vested interest.

Agreed. Though I'm guilty of this. Amongst other things.

The idea to separate the entries into their own YMMV and Fridge pages is a great one, as it makes the main pages more factual and informative. But, it means I need twice the amount of articles added to my watchlist, and who has the time to sort through them all each day?! Is there a way to prevent this?
12:35:13 AM Nov 25th 2010
Who made the new Turkey logo for the top of the page(s)? And will we see more custom logos in the future?
08:15:40 AM Nov 25th 2010
edited by Ghilz
Theres talk in the forum to have a new one for most holidays. There was one on halloween already
05:11:12 PM Nov 28th 2010
Yes, but who is making these logos? I love the idea.
12:53:49 PM Jan 9th 2011
Different folks. There is a thread in the the Wiki Talk forum where people are collaborating on the effort.
04:46:55 PM Nov 21st 2010
Why are categories like Fridge Logic, Fridge Brilliance, and YMMV no longer allowed to be added on a show page?
06:09:30 PM Nov 21st 2010
edited by FastEddie
Because those are individual's reactions to a work, not elements of the work itself. A new namespace (YMMV) was added for recording these, though.
07:06:11 AM Nov 17th 2010
Not to be disagreeable, but is there a forum thread or other place which details the reasoning behind the most recent change to the front page (the removal of the "cauldron of story" bit)? I can't, offhand, see the reasoning behind it - it wasn't confusing or improper. It was just a piece of frivolous fun, of the sort which (if I understand the current mission of the site after the changes) is still desirable.

If there's a good reason behind the change, that's one thing, but if not... well, I'm just wondering why.
12:31:50 PM Nov 17th 2010
Here is fine to discuss it, but you can also take it to Wiki Talk on the Forums if you prefer. Anyway, I don't know.
08:17:12 PM Nov 17th 2010
That sentence always annoyed the heck out of me, I'm not gonna miss it. Whistling up hearty spoonfuls of something and "sploshing" it to be devoured?
08:20:19 PM Nov 17th 2010
edited by FastEddie
Yep, it was always a little obscure. Whenever someone on another site quoted from it for a 'what TV Tropes is about' description, they always cut that bit. Little too whimsical, I guess.
08:30:06 PM Nov 17th 2010

I dunno, I never minded it, myself. "whimsical" is one of the things I've always liked about this site.
06:29:11 AM Nov 24th 2010
I think there is some middle ground between rambling and clinical. The text in question was nice but out of place.

I also think this wiki can and should be both entertaining and useful.

So, I'm not really worried until the "buttload" goes away. Let's make a solemn vow to preserve that.
07:15:17 AM Nov 24th 2010
Agreed. Once the "buttload" disappears then we have a problem. I second that vow!
04:35:32 PM Nov 24th 2010
Mmm, I liked that sentence and thought it sounded very neat and showed the charm of TV Tropes. However, it's one sentence on one page. Who cares!

But if buttload disappears, I'mma be mad.
08:04:15 PM Nov 24th 2010
Totally want to start a committee to keep buttload.

Dunno if I can think of an appropriate kitchen-based acronym...
09:23:46 PM Nov 24th 2010
CARB - Committee Against the Removal of Buttload.

I don't know, it just came to me.
10:02:43 PM Nov 24th 2010
I dunno; I feel like we're less anti-removal than pro-retention. Maybe: Totalitarian Activists for Buttload's Leavening Effect?
04:19:12 AM Jun 9th 2011
12:06:27 PM Oct 1st 2011
Although the term in and of itself is somewhat subjective. Comparable loads of different buttocks can vary with levels of subcutaneous fat. Also, the transfer of loads via the butt can be complicated by growth of hair, in both males and females (including humans). During puberty hair can even grow around the intergluteal cleft, near the anus. Thus, an entire buttload (perhaps of fat or of feces) may not be obviously different from a butt that has vacant space.
09:54:40 AM Nov 16th 2010
How would I go about citing TV Tropes if I'm quoting it for a paper?
10:02:22 AM Nov 16th 2010
Whatever formatting style you are using (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc...) should have a format for websites. Consult your style guide/sheet and find it out.
11:33:57 AM Nov 16th 2010
If you're wondering about the author, treat it as an institutional author, same as you would treat a paper written by the U.S. Government (for example).

Not sure you should be doing that in the first place, There Is No Such Thing as Notability an' all...
07:52:25 PM Dec 28th 2010
It's not an authoritative source, but it is occasionally witty. I could imagine using quotations from TV Tropes in a paper.

TV Tropes was the topic that won the latest Cracked.com photoshop contest. Perhaps the image could be used for the main page?

06:49:30 PM Dec 28th 2010
Aaand now it's the Simpsons. Dunno.
03:34:45 PM Feb 3rd 2011
According to the page source, "This image was chosen in Image Pickin' for the specific reason that The Expendables is not an example of The Movie, it's an example of Big Damn Movie, or Title The Adaption, not the movie. Do not change it back to The Expendables." Not sure why there's the confusion when the picture says TV Tropes: The Movie.
03:43:18 PM Feb 3rd 2011
The Cracked pic hasn't gone to waste, though. It's right over here.
03:53:12 PM Feb 15th 2011
The trope "The Movie" is defined thus, in the very first sentence on the page: "The Movie is a heavily expanded, one-shot episode of a TV series usually meant for theatrical distribution."

TV Tropes is not a tv series, and therefore, that poster is not an example of the trope. It is an example of Title: The Adaptation, which is where it is proudly residing as the page image.

That's Discontinuity.
02:13:52 PM Jul 6th 2010
For future reference, suggestions for new tropes belong at YKTTW.
06:42:58 PM Jul 6th 2010
And if you're just asking if we already have a trope, try Lost and Found.
12:45:52 PM Jan 28th 2011
I'd think a link to TYTTW should be on the main page, as I clicked this looking for that
