This example is arguing with itself. Please resolve this argument before adding it here.
  • Double Standard: Rufus is perfectly fine with his son having sex with his girlfriend Serena and will give him sage advice about it, so long as no pregnancy results. More than two years later, when his daughter is the same age or possibly older, it is unthinkable and way too early for her to have sex, even with a boyfriend who is in fact no more unsuitable than Serena once was (and in fact seemed to have gotten most of his ideas from Serena in the first place). And if she seduces a drunk, slightly-older teenager, that teen is clearly a bastard who should burn in hell for taking advantage.
    • Whoa whoa whoa- wait, SEDUCED?!!? Jenny at this point in the season, has quite obviously lost her ability to make good decisions (for instance: the whole Nate-Serena bullshit) and furthermore Chuck, although unknowingly, casually reminds her that he is in the power her ( "You wanna stay, you do what I do" when Jenny, who has lost her ability to think clearly, genuinely thinks that she has no place to go, although we , the viewer, know that her mother, Lily, and even her father wouldn't turn her out, tells him that she has no place to come back to) before they start drinking and then.... Also, look at her right after it's been done (yes, before that scene with Eric, where she was, so-called playing the victim, even though she was crying before Eric got their) this is not someone who has just had consensual sex. Chuck didn't realise what he was doing, true, but intend doesn't erase the facts.

Concerning Ivy League for Everyone. The show doesn't support the idea that Serena has "poor grades and zero extracurriculars". In fact, it seems she's been making good grades since her return. As for extracurriculars, one is mentioned: in her junior year, she's on the Community Outreach committee. There are probably others.

Do spoiler tags need to be removed so soon? Depending on where you live you might be over half a season behind the US. Would it really hurt to keep spoiler tags for the season that is currently airing and hold off on removing them until the new season starts?

Another anti-Blair rant that doesn't really sit well with me:

Most of this is someone's highly subjective opinion, presented in a not too pleasant manner. The main page is not the place to bash the characters you don't like and rant about them. I'm going to go ahead and remove this and if it results in massive objections from hoards of other tropers I'll put it back in.

I don't know about this one:

I see very little in that entry that can actually be said to be true. The show's target audience is not people who want to be like Blair, and just because Blair is the most popular character (along with Chuck) that doesn't mean people want to be like her. I don't think a lot of people want to be like Chuck, yet he's just as popular as Blair. The entry just seems like someone hating on Blair. It's really necessary to list seven reasons why Blair sucks? Most of those reasons are only true on surface level anyway. The tone of the entry is unpleasant, the last statement is not even correct, and it's borderline offensive in basically saying that Blair is popular because the show is aimed at "mean girls" and those "mean girls" make up her fanbase.

I have to agree. The show's target audience is women 18-34 (although everyone who watches the show is not always a woman aged 18-34). This statement has bothered me for the longest, and once I check TV Tropes to see if it's okay, I'll delete it.

Since Fridge Brilliance is a subjective trope, I deleted the entry above, but if the person who originally posted it wants to post this in the Live Action TV section on Fridge Brilliance, they should; it would go better there than the main Gossip Girl page.
