What's the difference between this trope and Word of Dante?

Word Of Dog are not just things considered canon but thigs that are actually believed to be creator's words.

"Similarly, it's possible that the ridiculously high ages of some Old Testament characters were supposed to be in months rather than years but were mistranslated."

The problem with this interpretation is that would have some of those Old Testament characters fathering children at ridiculously young ages. Don't take my word for it; look it up, read the relevant chapters, and do the math.

"God Never Said That" - In response to what you said about Final Fantasy VII, there has been no actual confirmation that Cloud and Tifa are in a romantic relationship now. Instead, it is clearly stated in three different places that Cloud and Tifa will get involved in a romantic relationship ONLY if Tifa's affection level with Cloud is high during the Highwind scene.

It is also clearly stated that there are two different versions of the Highwind scene. One takes place when Tifa's affection level with Cloud is low, and one takes place when Tifa's affection level with Cloud is high.

~Quotes: "After stopping Hojo from going amuck, the conversation with Tifa before they rush into the Northern Crater diverges into two conditions, according to Tifa’s affection rating with Cloud. When it gets low, the conversation in the scene that they spend the night will be apathetic and ends short. Next morning in the cockpit, Tifa says “Were you listening?” and stamps on tiptoe. On the other hand, when degree gets higher, the conversation of the scene that they spend the night will have strong emotions. Next morning in the cockpit, Tifa will say “Were you watching?” and feels terribly shy” ~page 198, Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega

"Deviation – Two versions of the conversation before the final battle Prior to the final battle, the contents of the conversation between Cloud and Tifa can change depending on the degree of Tifa’s affection. If the degree of affection is high, the contents of the two’s conversation will involve deep subject matter and strong feelings for each other. As well, the sight of the two seen by their companions the next morning will lead to an embarrassing scene for Tifa, and she blushes greatly.” ~page 232, Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Ultimania

"Another event is when the party was dismissed and after everyone left for their own places separately, Cloud and Tifa spent the night together. At that moment, according to Tifa’s affection rating with Cloud, the event of “dialogues exchanged between them from dusk to dawn” and “Tifa’s reaction and lines when she found out that everyone might see (or hear) that circumstance” will be different.” ~FFVII Dismantled, page 201

In reality, Cloud and Tifa exchange feelings without words in both the High Affection and Low Affection versions of the Highwind scene.

Script - High Affection Version http://clerith.heliohost.org/HighAffectionHWAnalysis.htm

Script - Low Affection Version http://clerith.heliohost.org/LowAffectionHW.htm

The Low Affection version only shows them solidifying their friendship and swearing to be there for one another - they do not get romantically involved in the Low Affection version.

Since Cloud and Tifa never say, "I love you" or kiss or hug or show any indication of romantic feelings for one another during or after the Highwind scene, it has actually been left inconclusive as to what exactly their relationship is. In Case of Tifa, Tifa even says that the family is made up of friends and that Cloud seems like a child to her at times. Advent Children/Complete and Case of Tifa both insinuate that Cloud sleeps in a different room than Tifa.

There has been absolutely nothing confirmed about the current nature of Tifa and Cloud's relationship. Instead, it has been left up to player interpretation.

Since there has been no change to what it says about FFVII, I wanted to repeat my request for a change. The paragraph currently says, "the fact that Tifa and Cloud are in a relationship has never been disputed since Advent Children, but that doesn't explain what would have happened if Aerith hadn't died."

Actually, SE never says WHAT KIND of relationship they are currently in. They live in the same house, but it's insinuated several times that Cloud sleeps in a separate room from Tifa. So we do not know for a fact that Cloud and Tifa are romantically involved, even though they are living in the same house.

Tifa and Barret were living in the same house at the beginning of FFVII without being romantically involved. Cid and Shera were living in the same house when Avalanche got to Rocket Town without being romantically involved at that time. So we do not know for sure that Cloud and Tifa are romantically involved.

And what does this have to do with the death of Aerith? Just because Tifa's alive doesn't mean that Cloud's in love with her. Does the fact that Yuffie's alive mean that Cloud's in love with Yuffie? As I stated before in my last entry, official sources say there are two versions of the Highwind scene. Nothing after the Highwind scene has ever confirmed which version happened - therefore, we have no way of knowing whether Cloud and Tifa are romantically involved or not.

Clerith4eva, I took the entry off because it's patently false and because one page already got locked over this. You've been told by moderators not to drag this up.

It was also a blatant Take That! at fans who did not adopt the author's own pet pairing. I readded it after taking such comments out and made it more neutral.

I took it back out again because it still seems like it's going to just be a bigger magnet for the debate.

For the person who took of both the second example for for GSD and Macross Frontier really should do their research on the topic before deleting the example.

The reason why I point this out is because both instances were completely fanmade articles that people touted around as true. It really was a fake article, later on when the fandom got curious and looked back for the articles they found out that the previous ones did not even exist. They were not translation errors, they really did not exist and were created by fans and ones that other fans believed up until people actually decided to and then ask questions, and then check the source, which they couldn't find.

This is part of the reason why the Macross Frontier page on tv tropes warns users against using Word of God unless they can cite the source.

Can anyone show me the proof that Fukuda never stated it, because I saw the apparently edited interview, and the thing was simply weird as hell, I wouldn't be shocked to see it edited or fabricated.

The last bullet of the Harry Potter entry is unclear. It's made more so by the grammar errors. It should probably be in Sarcasm Mode, unless it's not sarcastic (in which case the final sentence should be deleted).

I'll leave this up, but if nobody has any objection, the bullet should be deleted or clarified. If it's sarcastic, there's no reason to leave it here, since it's not applicable.

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.
