- Umaga's Samoan Spike, an extremely strong thumb jab to the throat.
- Santino Marella's Cobra, jabbing his fingers into the opponent's throat, often while wearing a cobra puppet on his hand.
Now, I suppose a case could be made for the Cobra, just for how ridiculous it is played up to be but the Samoan spike was never presented as "minimal effort". Umaga threw the thing as hard as any punch, clothesline or elbow drop in wrestling tend to be.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesAny possibility of using an actual image of someone taking someone down with one finger? Does this◊ work or is it not really that clear as to what's going on?
Hide / Show RepliesMy best friend at school and I invented a martial art that was basically this trope. A single index finger to the upper arm created excruciating, unbearable pain, rendering the enemy incapacitated. We called this deadly art "Chu Mai Pu". Hey, we were fourteen years old, it was funny.
Here's another example◊ from One Piece. It's not as good as the one on the article right now, if you ask me, but it is a really simple image that definitely shows a Finger Poke of Doom just happened.
Edited by ZombieAladdinThe Trope namer doesn't really even fit how it's defined here. It had nothing to do with how Strong Hogan was. But rather an exaggerated parody of a bribed Boxer taking a dive. I actually rather loved the moment.
I feel like it should be mentioned how WWF mocked this event like a week or so latter with Vince trying to order Kane to lay down for Rock.
The WCW Fingerpoke of Doom happened on January 4th, 1999, not in 1998.
Much as I'm glad we're cutting down on the Nanoha images, the new image is showing superman flicking Gorilla Grodd. Wasn't the trope about poking someone to death explosively?
Oh hang on its still a one finger takedown I guess. But the title still references finger pokes so should it be changed?
Edited by MightyKombat I'm quite confident in my shitposting you know
