Hello, I actually liked the Fan Favorite article. While it's noted that it might be a page for popular main characters that were designed to be popular in the first place, that's not always the case. I'm a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh!. The character of Yusei Fudo is designated as a scrappy which means he's a character that's contained a hate base. While the perception of the scrappy is subjective, so is fan favorite. But The Scrappy article is still there. YMMV and what not. Yugi is the protagonist of the show Yu-Gi-Oh! but fan favorite has established Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba are stars of the show. Yusei Fudo is listed as a fan favorite too. The Fan Favorite article is important because it shows that not all protagonists and main characters don't always become popular themselves. Yugi, the protagonist< isn't very popular and his alter ego shows he's the protagonist people have gained the show's fan investment. The Scrappy article and Characters Worth Gushing about don't often make clear on that perspective. While we can argue with the moral of loving the character an individual loves and hating the characters an individual hates, I feel that the article is worthy and relevant as much as ensemble dark horse, scrappy, and breakout character is. This articles help bring attention to the vices and quality of fictional works and allows creators to improve on their fiction before it's late to do anything about it. Since Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V came, I was worried whether I he was an excellent protagonist and whether arc v is a show still watching. Not many people like Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal and Yuma. I'm was one of them. Fan Favorite has established Yuya of arc v as an excellent protagonist and it made me what to invest in Yu-Gi-Oh! again. I kept up with the arc-v show. So far, I'm not disappointed. Why not keep the article up for people like myself you are interested in it and those who are not can just go about their day. I would lie for it to be put back if that's alright.

Uh ... may I ask you to add some paragraph breaks somewhere in that wall of text?

Following the thread that nuked Fan Favorite, The Scrappy was spared because of the number of inbounds and tropes as this are barred in ykttw currently.

I don't know and I don't care about the vote. It's an issue I have problem with and want to bring an issue to and would like to see it up in the near future. And that reasoning still doesn't make sense in the Fan Favorite article. I actually looked at it. Doesn't look easily subjective to me.

Yeah, it's bound to be subjective. It's about opinions on a character.

So is Scrappy and Dark Horse. How does anyone to if those characters are popular? The same can be said for Fan Favorite. It's when it abides with the supporting evidence. Not all protagonists are popular in their own show. Yugi isn't that popular compared to his alter ego who heavily popular.

I actually think this trope was a nice bit of trivia; ensemble darkhorse and breakout character don't really cover all the examples so Fan favorite could've served as a fairly useful supertrope of sorts. Some of the discussion on the page seems like it was relying how "notable" a certain character being popular is(as though being a main character should guarantee popularity).

For instance, Richard in Looking For Group is considered to be the most popular character of the webcomic, so people naturally put him into Ensemble Darkhorse...even though he's been a main character and foil from the very first comic. Then again there are so many pointless tropes so who am I to judge?

This is a repair of a previous comment I made where I didn't realize there was a mispell.

We also know that there are some characters that are definitely highly beloved by the fans of various series. Sometimes its even mentioned in articles.

Tyrion Lannister and Arya Stark are clearly fan favorites for Game of Thrones, especially Tyrion. Daryl Dixon is the most beloved character in the Walking Dead, and it is possible Carol might be a fan favorite that as well given how much people have come to really like her, especially after Season Five began, along with the fact Daryl and Carol are a fan preferred pairing. In the Walking Dead video game, Clementine and Lee are definitely the most beloved characters. As someone pointed out before, Iroh and Toph seem to be fan favorites for the Avatar franchise. In the same vein, Varrick seems to be this in the Legend of Korra.

Anyway, we could try doing this again, but be more careful in moderating it. That way it can be discussed beforehand.
