If Quagmire is 61 years old, that would make Ida/Dan at leat 80 meaning Brian had sex with an old lady/man...which doesn't seem likely.

Dude....a talking dog had sex with a transgender war hero in a fancy hotel after coming back from a seminar about how to create an internet-based series, then vomited for ten minutes straight, then had the living shit kicked out of him by said war hero's date rapist son who hates him, and the episode ends on a deadpan "I fucked your dad" from the talking dog....

And you're complaining about the Fridge Logic in the characters' ages?

tl;dr: There's a trope for that.

Brian is well known for lusting after older women. In season 3 he courts the elderly Pearl, and in season 7 he marries Rita whose advanced age age is a major plot point. Brian also admits to holding a flame for Olympia Dukakis who is almost 80 herself, as well as Phylicia Rashād, who's in her 60's. Brian's no stranger to the silver foxes.

Anyone else notice how often they retcon the character's ages just to keep up with the times?

"Oh, I didn't have gas until I was 20" (Cuts to Peter sitting in a clearly 70's themed room when he farts) "...What the hell was that?"

Carter: "Oh hi, Honey, did I miss your piano recital?" Lois: "No dad, I'm in my forties now."

A few seasons ago they showed that Lois was 18 in 1984, but in the current season revealed that she legally created a porno in 1981.

I guess that's Negative Continuity for you.

Uh why are the starwars specials placed in affectionate parody trope? While its just my opinion, the writers clearly don't understand the setting and don't use any of the props they have effectively. Also the specials are listed in the shallow parody trope as well.

To me, it's a little weird that Peter mentioned CatDog in "Friends of Peter G" because A) Seth Macfarlane grew up in The Seventies and The Eighties (hence such references on the show), and CatDog is a show from the late 90s/early 2000s, where a man Seth's age would likely not be watching such shows... well, there was a Spongebob Squarepants gag in "Road to Rupert", but... whatever.

You want a reason? Maybe it wasn't Seth who thought of that, but one of the writers. There's more of the FG staff than Seth, you know. There's your reason.

Watch "Quagmire's Dad" again and tell me it isn't one of the most uncomfortably negative episodes ever. And I don't mean offensive like "Family Gay" or "Not all Dogs go to Heaven" because at least those episodes were entertaining. "Quagmire's Dad" was just a buzzkill.

First, it starts off with Peter and Lois nonchalantly telling Brian that his place in the family as a pet is flat out insignificant. Definitely not Played For Laughs. Then, when Quagmire becomes distraught at his father's decision, Peter and Lois provide NO emotional support as friends and do nothing but make ignorant jokes about the LGBT community. Not funny ignorant, just ignorant. And need I mention the dinner table scene? All of this complete with a Downer Ending. Wth?
