Cutting most of the non-examples for misuse in the real life section.
Do you think that maybe we could add to the trope description by including a passage of instrumental bands without vocalists. We can talk about the extent of how much the trope could be averted, depending on the type of instrumental bands. Do they even have any frontmen at all? I just feel like this could at be alluded to.
The rise of the music video making this idea popular is likely irrelevant: note the numerous 50s and 60s bands who were named "X and the Ys", although some of them still played on TV there are a number of bands who were named this way and didn't get a lot of TV play.
