This index seems to show up twice in most of the sub-pages, and I am too new to have ay idea how to fix it...

This Is a Drill is an example.

Working Title: Spin is Win: From YKTTW

I removed Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann from the list of subtropes. Awesome though it is, it's not a trope, and it's the first listed example (and rightly so!). — Dae Khar El

Removed this image:

... because it doesn't effectively display the trope in question. It's visually confusing, and there's no motion lines that indicate spinning.

Okay, who removed all of those good examples from real life? Bullets really do work better when they are spun to take advantage of spin stabilization. A drill is one of the most efficient ways to create a hole. Applying spin to a football when throwing the pass allows it to travel further. While many of those examples are more properly placed under When Things Spin, Science Happens, a fair number of them still belong here. A helicopter is an example of When Things Spin, Science Happens, because it wouldn't work at all without the spinning. But barrel rifling is an example of this trope, because the spinning really does make it better.
