Is there a trope that describes Awakenings? The way I see it, it's not exactly a New Super Power; it's more like one's ability to acquire New Super Powers is... unlocked.
It's not Took A Level In Badass, since an increased ability to kick arse is dependent on one's personality or the circumstances of the Awakening, and Elliot's new spells certainly don't make him a more effective in combat.
It's similar to Touched By Vorlons in that Awakenings are triggered (and indeed, ones triggered by Immortals certainly fall under that trope), but it doesn't cover all Awakenings (Susan's, maybe Elliot's).
Any thoughts?

About the A Man Is Not A Virgin: how is it a subversion, brutal or not? It does not even come across as an aversion. It sounds more or less like a "does not have anything to do with the trope"
Is there some sort of trope for, I don't know, contrasting sorta-themed characters? I just feel like there should be a trope for Catalina (North High's cat) and Rhoda (South High's puppy). Even though they've never met. ^^;
What's this about potholing every character? It doesn't help anything, not at this scale, but since it doesn't hurt anything either (just kinda looks tacky), I'm hesitant erase someone's work.
Just added 'I Just Want To Have Friends: The main cast have implausibly deep and mature friendships for high school students'. It was promptly deleted; I guess this is the appropriate place to discuss it...
What I mean by 'implausibly deep and mature' is that they all seem to genuinely care for each other's feelings and to have a deep respect for each other. Also, they handle social problems with levels of wisdom and elegance which I certainly wouldn't expect from your average 17/18-year-old. I think anyone in that age group would be extremely lucky to have seven of such extremely good friends. Thus, I considered it an example of this trope - 'answering to the desire that some members of the audience have to form many close friendships'.
Thoughts?
Blue and Orange Morality regarding the Uryuom and by extension Gracve's sexuality. Seeing as thbecause they can shapeshift the form relationships based on mental bonds rather than appearances.
