Re: the Phantom example — I never thought "Music of the Night" was an allegory for anything. It's pretty plainly a straight-up aural seduction. I mean - look at some of the lines! "Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation"? "Silently the senses abandon their defenses"? "Let your soul take you where you long to be - only then can you belong to me"? That's not allegory. That's as blatantly sexual as "Under Your Spell" from Buffy's "Once More With Feeling".

So both the page quote and the page image don't really fit this trope; they are really just examples of Sexual Innuendo. Does This Remind You of Anything?, according to the page description and most examples, is really about applying a bunch of tropes generally related to one plot to another plot. Hence quotes and images are maybe a bit hard to come by, because you can't capture a whole plot or subplot in a quote or an image.

Innuendo is a form of that, actually. So that would still fit.

I'm thinking about adding a Simpsons example, but I don't know exactly if it fits. In the subplot of "To Surviel with Love", Lisa gets mocked by a clique of brunettes for not perpetuating the Dumb Blonde stereotype. The Other Wiki used the term "supremacists" to describe the clique and Lisa ends up speaking out against common stereotypes. So I was wondering, is that a DTRYOA moments paralleling the civil rights movement?

If anyone has read The Rithmantist by Brandon Sanderson, did anyone else feel the church depicted in the novel was an analogue of the Mormon Church—primarily in the elaborate ceremonies and strict secrecy of the rithmantist concerning what happens during their initiation. If I'm not alone, please respond.

Examples should not just link to YouTube, like these did:

Uh...I think the page is too big. ^^;

Should we shrink it by deleting some of the more not safe for work entries?

Bigger is better. Editing for quality edges onto editing for notability, and we know what that leads to. Tidiness may become an issue, but I don't see the need for deleting the funnier entries. If it grows enough, it may need sub-pages, though.

Should this necessarily be about sex? There are a lot of things that link here that are actually about allegories, rather than innuendo, and that's problematic.

Not always. I just realised an instance of this trope applying to a scene in a fanfic: one character was experiencing power incontinence, which resulted in said character exploding (granted, this character could heal herself from these kinds of injuries, so she lived through it...which I guess makes it less horrific). It later occured to me what the instance could relate to - 'incontinence' and 'explosion' used in the same sentence - whether the author meant for there to be a narm-soked pun is beyond me, but in this case, it had nothing to do with sexual innuendos.

It's mostly about taboos, I think. Sometimes it's a comment on sexuality, sometimes on racism, sometimes on drug abuse... Art gets to do that.
