Can we have a different name for this trope? I don't like being reminded of ejaculation when hearing about this trope.

@Mosquito Man: Couldn't agree with you more, mate.

Can anyone give some more PG suggestions? I get that some tropes' titles are inevitably going to be racy, but something like this I don't think has any need to be.

From a year and a half ago, but yes, absolutely - especially since the name also isn't particularly evocative of the trope to anyone but the trope namer, which means that the trope is suffering serious creep (from a specific style of art to "art I don't like").

I'm going to try to clean up the page, but in the meantime, how does "Artsplosion" sound as a replacement trope name? It's much more evocative of what the trope is trying to describe, and doesn't have the uncomfortable (and derogatory) sexual overtones.

I Think people need to be reminded that Tropes Are Not Bad. YMMV On this, but i think that this type of thing is actually quite good looking.

As a graphic design student, I frequently see egregious examples of the latest tendency to over-flowerify things. But!- used correctly, like any other design technique, it lends well to the subject of the design.

The thing that bugs me about this trope listing is the wiiiiide range of art styles being referenced as the same thing. Vector art does NOT equal Art Nouveau.

It also seems that anything that's visually cluttered is being used as an example of the trope, even though it really doesn't look like the specific style that the trope is describing at all. Or things that really aren't even that cluttered. For example, I don't understand how the poster for August Rush or those for Precious (which are pretty damn minimalist, especially compared to the actual Design Student Orgasm stuff) are supposed to fall under this trope. At all. Stuff like that just isn't what the trope is about.
