so does Luna Lovegood fit here or not? because she's obviously smart enough to get into Ravenclaw, and she's very perceptive... but there's no saying she's not a tad Loony...

Yes. The trope isn't about smarts or perception, but whether or the character has their head in the clouds.

Considering she's in pantheon of gods under cloudcuckoolander I find it strange she's not on the list.

Edit: Never mind. I see someone added her since the last time I checked the list.

Can't we replace that Obscure Anime #213 girl with someone more known like GIR or Ed? Or is she REALLY the Most Triumphant Example?

The picture works well already. She really is the Most Triumphant Example, at least close to it.

I liked it more when Homsar was the page image

I really can't tell Homsar is a Cloud Cuckoo Lander from that image. Sorry. I've never watched/read Homestar Runner, so I'm kinda clueless here.

It doesn't matter if you don't know who that girl is, or how much you hate animes. The picture describe this trope perfectly, with the other characters on top of her head and her silly looking face. Everyone will get the basic idea of this trope.

Does a character qualify for Cloud Cuckoo Lander status if their oddness is attributed to drink rather than insanity?

Depends. Is there a real chance of their being seen sober? Or serious-drunk?

I think the Bottle Fairy trope might apply better to that situation.

You know, there's this one thing I really want to know now:

Is it Cloud Cuckoolander, Cloud Cuckoo Lander, or Cloudcuckoolander?

I have absolutely no idea - and I've seen all variations on This Very Wiki, so I'm definitely not the only confused one here ^^

Judging by its index listings and the related Cloudcuckooland trope, it's Cloudcuckoolander with no spaces.

Is ist just me or are the examples within the main trope text rather silly? Like "A Cloudcuckoolander sees no problem with using a communal shower as their method of hygiene if they lack another method". So tell me, what would a "normal" person do when they lack any method of hygiene other than a communal shower? And, what do you think happens to the clothes of dead people? Why would one not wear them?

What the hell does Cloudcuckoolander mean? Where does it come from? And why is it so damn hard to spell?

I wonder those same questions all the time. I feel for you.

I know there have been a lot of trope name changes since naming after a specific character or place in a video game is a no no due to the esoteric nature of it all, but I think that if there's ever a plan for this one, Cloudcuckooland should stay, because even if someone didn't play Banjo-Tooie, the name itself gives enough of a picture of someone who's so insane their head is always in the clouds that it gives a perfect picture as is.
