How is this trope played if a character makes the pose but doesn't try to deceive/lie/etc.?

It's a Subversion, I think, if the writers make it clear that this is the pose they meant (e.g. if they mimic Gendo completely). Or if the character says something everyone assumes is a lie with clasped hands, but it turns out to be true later. It can also be Lampshaded at some point.

If the character simply clasps hands as a habit while speaking, it doesn't fall under this trope definition.
