The claim that Radio Luxembourg's listeners didn't like radio being monopolized by record labels makes no sense whatever when you realise that in the early 60s all of Luxembourg's record shows were sponsored by the big four record companies. One of the reasons Ronan O'Rahilly set up Radio Caroline (at least according to him) was that he couldn't get airplay on Luxembourg for independent artists.
