I think Bowdlerise should become trivia trope, because it's more suitable for the trivia tab of certain works.

There are some translation purists (mostly Japanophiles from my experience) who consider the Woolseyism a form of Bowdlerization. (That is, any sort of deviation from the original translation is something they consider to negatively affect the product, even if other people like it, and they will look down on those who do.) Is that worth adding to the description for this trope?

Google bowdlerised Little Red Riding Hood. The hunter pulls Riding Hood and her grandmother out by a scarf instead of chopping the wolf open. Does that go under Fairy Tales or New Media?

I don't understand, since Google doesn't make films/stories/whatevers, it's a search engine and some other things. Whatever company did it, it goes in the medium of the adaption; Fairy Tales is more for the original stories that have been written down rather than the defined adaptations, in my experience.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I never thought about that, but I just always read it as "Boulder-ize"

I say it Bow-(rhymes with cow) dler-eyes.

Well that was like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole where "mole" is defined as "Cthulhu". -Count Dorku

I know right, it says how not to pronounce it (which was exactly how I was pronouncing it), but it doesn't give the correct way, so I'm just going to keep on saying it the way I was.

If it helps the BBC have announcers use the bow-rhymes-with-cow pronunciation.

Was akuma of the street fighter series Bowdlerised? i mean he wasn't changed in backstory, but Capcom Usa did attempt it, and he still kept the name.

How do you call this if it happens with subtitles? Happens a lot of time with German translations. For example, in 'Hot Fuzz', subtitles translate 'twat' as 'idiot' while the synch renders it as 'arse', I think.

Could you be more specific? What did it look like, and when was the last time you saw it?

See you in the discussion pages.
