Arteries are deep in your arm — it's the veins that you see close to your skin. This can cause a problem when measuring blood pressure because if the cuff takes longer than a heartbeat to inflate then the veins are cut off soon but blood still pumps into the arm through the arteries, causing slight swelling.

The warm water is conductive to the easy flow of blood, yeah.
But how would cutting open your veins be painless?
Gay elephant noise? Hide / Show RepliesIt would still hurt. A lot. But it would be less painful than if you had to keep reopening the wound, and probably less painful than hanging, drowning, etc..

"...and the fact that the arteries are buried quite deep in the arm..."
Citation needed? I highly doubt this is true, I can count the arteries on the insides of my arm, they're that close to my skin.
