Question: Could this trope apply to characters who aren't necessarily badass but still have long hair and are unmistakably male and still masculine? Because I haven't been able to find a trope for those kinds of characters. Dude Looks Like a Lady and Long Haired Prettyboy only apply to men who look feminine, so if this trope wouldn't apply to people like Hurley of Lost and Gilbert Grape of What's Eating Gilbert Grape, i.e. characters who aren't feminine but aren't badasses, what trope would? Or do we need to make a new one for that?

It should be called "Manly Longhair" imho, it could apply to pre-compilation, über Badass Sephiroth, Mitsurugi, Zero, many guys more. It's kinda sad that this trope become ambiguous imho

I was wondering if Shining Armor from MLP would count? I can't tell if his hair is supposed to be long, or the design just makes it look that way.

And possibly Braeburn, maybe.

Braeburn fails at the badass part, and I reckon Shining Armor's hair is just styalised; it isn't any longer than the others, and I see it as indicating refinement rather than being badass.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

But if you look when him and Cadance are "powering up' it looks pretty long.

It is apparently impossible to create a Wiki Word link to the Aubrey-Maturin article, presumably because of the embedded hyphen.

Somebody w/ the power wanna fix that?

It's a bit narrow restricting this to the 90s. It started a lot earlier with rock n' roll, just look at every 70s anime.

Also muttering muttering men are supposed to have more hair that is how sexual dimorphism works muttering just ignore me etc.
