Is "lead poisoning" really a serious worry with bullet wounds? Seems like having a solid lump of the stuff inside you wouldn't be all that dangerous, at least not in the short term and certainly not in the same league as the other complications mentioned.

I wonder if the author heard the phrase "he died of lead poisoning" of a character who was shot dead, and didn't realise it was a joke...
