  • The spirit-sensing heroine in a short manga story is viciously abused when her "gift" is revealed. While she tries to be The Stoic, the ghostly schoolboy she's trying to help attempts to Kill Em All by showering them with glass. Ironically this causes the classmates to believe her and they apologize profusely.
    • What short manga story?

I'm pretty sure Naruto is not the iconic example.

HE is a good example...the villagers shun him, but at the same time, he has to protect everyone.

An oversight:

I think some tidying up is needed for the Buffy example - sounds more like a forum chat?

Also, Hephaestus was not shunned by all the gods - it was his mother Hera who was displeased with the crippled, weak form of her newborn and tossed him off Mt. Olympus. An act which he later got revenge for, by trapping her on a magical throne... Another convoluted family dispute amongst the Olympians! As for the attempted rape of Athene, that depends on which scholar you read - some say he proposed and she rejected him due to his ugliness, others that she disappeared from the marriage bed. Most say he was given Aphrodite to wed by a repentent Hera (who wanted him back after discovering his excellent smithing) or Zeus, and when he caught his wife in bed with Ares (in the net) what the other gods laughed at was Hermes' stating that he would like to be trapped with Aphrodite anyway. Except for Zeus', who was disgusted that Hephaestus had aired his dirty laundry. The god kept her as his wife all the same, because of his love for her. Now if I could summarise that, I'd edit the entry... My sources are mainly Encyclopaedia Mythica and Robert Grave's 'The Greek Myths'.

Re: Hellboy 2. The Big Red Guy was being a bit of a jackass about the baby. He couldn't take two seconds to hand off the kid to a cop and say 'Run!'. Because yikes.
