Does Imoen really count as Adapted Out of the first novel? The novel was written with early drafts of the script and Imoen wasn't added until very late in the game's development so she didn't actually exist in the version of the script the novel is based on. The same can be said of Minsc as I doubt the developers realised he would become default the series mascot when the first book was written (he would probably count for the later books though)

I can see your point but I dislike the assumption that everyone who views the page would be aware of the circumstances the novels were made under, and so I think both still count for the trope. Minsc may have only become a popular character after the fact but he was still part of the first game and left out (though I'm willing to snip the mascot bit). In the case of Imoen perhaps it should be noted that she was added very late in the game's development and therefore was excluded from the novelization.

True, I have put the Imoen example into the Is this an example? forum thread to see what other people think. As for Minsc, I think doing the examples by book could help so have him along with the other characters left out for size/story reasons for the first book and possibly note that his despite is popularity he was left out of the third book. As for his appearance in the second book, a possible Cameo example could be written to cover that.
