I'm not sure what trope this fits under, but Sousuke's origin story is based on someone in real life. Ahmad Shah Massoud is supposed to have caught a kid sent by the KGB to assassinate him and then instead of killing him he adopted him.

- Cute Shotaro Boy: Sōsuke as a kid. Gauron himself Lampshades this, saying that he always thought Sōsuke had big ''beautiful'' eyes, and an adorable face. And not just Gauron felt... impulses of that sort towards young Sōsuke. Apparently, while Sōsuke was with fellow Guerillas, he was a bit afraid that they would jump him in his sleep because he was just so darn pretty and cute. Yes, even at such a young age, he was able to bewitch many men.

About the Clown Car Base thing. I believe it is not really an example, as the reference was in a single shot, and the rest of the time (both before and after) the TDD is portrayed with proper proportions. I don't want to remove it outright just yet, but I think that a single shot (which probably was drawn that way so one could see what is going on) does not an example make.

So does anyone else think the English dub of FMP is actually really decent? I'm not an elitist or purist who outright refuses English voice overs, but I usually find the original voice overs to be way better quality in terms of acting. It isn't always the case as I know a shitty voice actor is still a shitty voice actor, regardless of ethnicity or nationality. FMP's English dub doesn't make me cringe like some dubs do. It's so much more enjoyable to watch it in English, because I don't have to stare at the bottom part of the frame and digest what I'm reading for 20, 30, 60, whatever minutes. Makes multitasking while watching so much easier.

Am I the only one who gets a brain spasm whenever I hear Johnny Yong Bosch's voice come out of Sousuke's mouth - as a battle cry? Vash as a child soldier - kinda like Belldandy as a vampire or something!

I only just noticed the WTH Casting Agency and the attached rumors. Zac Efron was young Simon Tam before he was anyone else. So maybe it's less WTH and more people noticing that he likes sci-fi, and did sci-fi, and would maybe probably rather be known for sc—anything that doesn't make half the world cringe?
