Cut this and put it here for now. If it really does appeal to the Nightmare Fetishists, then it doesn't belong on the main page. We need to know what else is wrong.

  • ''''Lina x Zellas''' (NSFW, tons of torture, rape)
    • Fandom: Slayers
    • Pairings: Too many to count, mostly involving Lina, Zellas, Luna, etc.
    • Synopsis: Lina Inverse becomes captive by Beastmaster Zellas, and is then forced to go through various torture scenarios with other characters for thirty-two chapters.
    • Comments: I never thought something like this would exist for this fandom, but I was proven wrong. The only real reason to read this is if you are a nightmare fetishist, or have a case of bile fascination as much as I do, and even then I was freaking out over the part in chapter five (let's just say there were needles involved...).

FalconPain
05:44:00 PM May 2nd 2010
Not explicitly. The archived discussion explains it better, but in short, there are a lot of fanfics that are written to appeal to particularly niche groups, especially those interested in things that other people would find to be squicky and disturbing. For such a story to make it onto this page, it needs to fail to appeal to even them.

The story may be horrifying, but consensus has not found it horrible.

Cut this and put it here for now (though, alas, not before I edited). You need to be reasonably sure a fic belongs here before you post it here.

  • StarKits Prophcy (utter stupidity, Mary Sue, Rouge Angles Of Satin, probable Self Insert Fic, possible blood and violence)
    • Fandom: Warrior Cats
    • Pairings: Mary Sue/Everyone, implied Jayfeater/Stick and Jayfeather/"Dawnsparkle"
    • Synopsis: "a kitten named StarKit is born into Thunderclan one day. Their is a prophcy about her but few cats know about it not even her. but so many terible things are to come and will she be able to fufil her prophcy or will she die before that. rated for blood&v"
      • Or to put it another way: a Purity Sue is declared The Chosen One by StarClan and proceeds to do everything perfectly and have at least three toms fall in love with her. The author is constantly extolling the virtues of Christianity and calling her flamers "Satinists" or "athletes." Spelling errors and general lolwut abound. May very well be a Troll Fic. Is either this or So Bad It's Good.

AnonymousMcCartneyfan

Harry Potter attracts the worst writers because it attracts the most writers. The Sturgeons Law good 10% for Harry Potter fics exceeds many fandoms' entire published fanfic base. Therefore, so does the Horrible 10% we're trying to chronicle here.

About No Turning Back: if we can have naked quotes from that Mangogirl Silent Hill fic, we can have quotes from this one. We don't want people to read it casually, so spoiling plot points from the fic itself is okay; and the quotes don't appear to have plot points from the series it's a fanfic of. Or characters from those works, for that matter.

I'm for cutting the first one myself, since all of them seem to be trying to illustrate the same points, but I feel I've done enough with it already this pass.

Someone seems to think Shinji's Nightmare Cataclysm is amusing. Do we investigate, or do we just assume they've gone mad from reading the work? This is of critical importance because the work is by Psychostorm: if the work is (somehow) So Bad Its Good, that means that maybe Psychostorm isn't a Brown Composer.

Cut this and put it here. On hunting down So Bad Its Horrible references to try to lower this index's profile, I found this listed on a trope page with an address and a matter-of-fact So Bad Its Good Pot Hole. Chocobo Nights originally had on its own page "So Bad Its Good / So Bad Its Horrible (Your Mileage May Vary)." I'm afraid I have to respect the surrealists for now...

  • Chocobo Nights (explicit sex, bestiality, bad writing, severe biology fail)
    • Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
    • Pairing(s): unfortunately
    • Synopsis: After escaping from Midgar without Aeris, AVALANCHE spends the night at Chicabo's chocobo ranch. That night, Chicabo and Tifa have a little "fun." It involves chocobos.
    • Comments: The powerful work of a writer who flings around sexual terms without knowing what they mean (How do you mount someone in the 69 position? It breaks the mind trying to figure that one out) and who is determined to throw as many odd fetishes in a five-page fic as possible. Also, the author wrote "thung" for "tongue."
      • Although this fic is well-recognized on its own, it's the second chapter of a six-part series. At least that explains the length.

Edited the Giroro's Secret entry, though I am not yet certain that it wasn't a troll entry or a Squick-induced one. Removed some stuff not directly related to the fic...

I would like to note that the reason we warn for Slash is that the people who write slash do not accept the idea of slash being Out Of Character for any given character, regardless of who we see them date onscreen. Debating it is the stuff of Internet Backdraft; simply assuming it is, unfortunately, naive. If it's an Alt!Giroro anyhow (I'll presume he isn't a hermaphrodite in canon), all sexual bets are off.

Same writer (a guy name trewwert), same fandom (Phineas And Ferb), and the two stories even try (and fail) to share a Myth Arc. Partly because we may be using the word loosely — the line between cross-species shipping and bestiality is not clear to me, anyhow. (If there's a better way to warn for cross-species shipping, many of these could be corrected.)

Partly because, if that kind of thing is done wrong, it adds horror and (often) squick, making the fic less tolerable.

Partly because the only form of shipping more horrifying than improperly done bestiality is illegal to post in many countries.

Some of the fics which are marked "bestiality" come from fandoms where there is more than one sentient species. Sometimes, creatures that would be mere animals in Real Life are full persons in The Verse. Shippers hate to block an otherwise good pairing simply because of species differences, even if they ought to.

Then there are fandoms like Pokemon, which contain creatures whose sentience is uncertain. Some pokemon are people, but it's probable that not all of them are. Rectified Anonymity is especially horrifying for this reason.

And fans of transformation fic sometimes use their transformation kinks for evil. See Naga Eyes...

Assuming that it would be possible to write something like Naga Eyes intelligibly and without going far Out Of Character — since they are the same species in canon, how big an obstacle to shipping Riku/Sora should naga!Riku be? Can love level species barriers when both parties are sentient?

Note to self: do not mark a story for bestiality if its canon finds HalfHuman Hybrids acceptable.

A number of these are also very poorly-done trolls which fail to be funny and come out as offensive and stupid. Since an amateur troll of this sort will often throw the most offensive things he can find into a story, and most of the modern world tends to at least frown upon zoophilia. • Immortality in Fickle Affection (slash, rampant OO Cness, rape, scat, mutilation, exhibitionism, gender switch, RAMPANT OOCNESS, bestiality, penile transmutation, Squick, penis hydra kooshballs, and bad, bad writing. List not complete due to editor restraining from vomiting.)— Link goes to MST for sanity's sake.
    • Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
    • Pairings: Hercules/Cloud, possibly onesided Sephiroth/Cloud. It's difficult to tell.
    • Synopsis: The story begins with Hercules having sex with Cloud, and gets much much worse from there on out. Anything else in the story is best summed up by the warnings. The word "synopsis" implies there is some kind of plot to summarize. There is nothing of the sort here.
    • Comments: So badly written that it takes the cake from Snakes On A Sora by a long shot. The writing is horrible, using Purple Prose and ridiculous sentences past the point of amusing. Ignoring the writing, there is no plot to speak of. The entire "story" revolves around bad characterization, unnecessary "kinks", and is undoubtedly the worst story I have ever seen.

    • Comments: A new story, The synopsis above is essentially the entire plot but without dialog, in fact, a review to the story is actually longer than the story itself. The story is meant to be funny but isn't, The author slips in a bit of Fan-dumb hate by Kitty hitting Scott 'for being a jerk' when he didn't even do anything. Cut No Turning Back (for now) after someone noted that a character name marked it as a Troll Fic. If it is one, then it's a successful Troll Fic — we were too outraged by the politics to notice the plot (if any).

  • No Turning Back (crossover, Author Tract, rape).
    • Fandom: Ranma One Half, Utawarerumono, Pokegirls
    • Pairing: yes, unfortunately
    • Synopsis: "What if everything you ever believed about Dr. Sukebe and the Great Pokegirl War was wrong?"
    • Comments: What semblance of a plot it has is buried underneath gigantic screaming rants against the author's unfavorite political party and its associate demographics. Contains so many racial slurs and psychotic misogynism that you could be forgiven for believing you'd clicked on the core rules for FATAL or Racial Holy War by mistake, only it's all attributed to the "political party/voters the author didn't like".
      • Sample narration:
"Billy was a great believer in Jesus. Especially the parts where the smiting of the fags and the making the sandniggers discover the Good Book were concerned."
"He'd jumped at the chance to join the White Eagles. A good unit without the blacks and the yellows and the brownies. The officers had been very good and very smart, even letting their men know that the President and Vice President themselves had the utmost confidence in the White Eagles and the super secret project that would make America the undisputed big daddy of the world forever."
"Vice President Dick Ripper savored the sound of it. World Domination. None of this stupid pretending to be a Democracy for the lesser classes bullshit. It would be a return to the good old days when you could use a whip on the poor people when they got too uppity and spoke back to their betters. Where Bitches knew their proper place, on their knees and on their backs. After all, hadn't he taught his own sweet daughter that? She was a good trained little slut now and he was looking forward to his first son from her soon."
      • Suffice it to say, there's tons more.
      • But you probably need not to read farther than "Dick Ripper" to recognize a Troll Fic.
      • And for the final insult, the damn thing is billed as a lemon fic, and yet you get more than halfway in and there isn't any porn — unless you count offhand mentions of rape.

I'll dare to challenge the "Hey GENDO" entry: First of all, I don't think that the fics were supposed to be erotic at all. The entry even says that "the way it's presented there is simply no way a weirdo fetishist could be turned on in any way [and] the writer frequently breaks the fourth wall commenting on how disgusting it is." Yes, I agree that it's disgusting, but that's the point. To further quote the entry, "the author flat-out states that he hates Skullfucking. What is the point of writing a Lemon of a fetish that you hate?" Here's your answer: He didn't. Or, y'know, he technically did, in the sense that the fic contains explicit sex, but the readers aren't supposed to be aroused by it. Plus, I don't get the "terrible writing", either. Sure, I get where that is coming from, but I think the writing style is just another tool to make the fic be exactly what it is (uh... you get my point, right?): A dark humor piece. Yes, I know that not everyone likes this kind of humor, but I laughed hard.

So that's all I have to say about this. I'm not arguing for removing the entry, I'm just accusing the entry of Completely Missing The Point.

We need to link to Celebrian. Or at least mention it. When a fanfic is so bad - and not just because of squick or bad writing, but also incredibly BORING - that it's considered a badge of honour to manage to read through the whole thing, you know it's that bad.

I mean, the worst part is that the writer seemed to think that to make a story entertaining, all you have to do is add porn to balance out boringness. And the word 'lavender'.

I mean, anybody can read a few lines of lousy porn, or write a crappy sex scene, but it takes a real PRO to make it through 21k of orc, goblin and warg sex. My biggest deal was that when I was reading it, half of the time I wasn't even going 'ew'. I was constantly looking at the scroll bar and thinking, "What? Not even half-way through?"

Two reasons: One: I'd have to read it over again, and two: I can't seem to edit the page. But for you, Medicus, I'll put the data needed to put it in. Edit formatting to taste.

"Celebrian". http://www.freewebs.com/bonsaimallorn4/Celebrian.htm

  • Fandom: Lord Of The Rings
  • Pairings: Celebrian/Everybody
  • Synopsis: 21,000+ words consisting of sex between Celebrian and a bunch of orcs and goblins and wargs and war-horses, and all of it is exceedingly dull. And disgusting.
  • Comments: How is it possible to make a one-shot of sex dull? It matters little. What matters is that it is one thing to read a bad one-shot with lousy spelling and IKEA sex. It's something else to manage to dredge your way through Celebrian; 21k of sex between elves and orcs and stuff, every detail of clothing lovingly and yet boringly pored over, every inch of genitalia described in perfect yet boring detail, as if the writer had some sort of picture in his brain that he wanted to write down. Boringly. And every word of the way you're just wishing the writer would just get it over with. The ability to make one's way through the whole thing is considered a badge of stamina among readers of bad Fan Fiction.
  • Conclusion: No matter how bad a fanfic is, I always think, "It's nothing like as bad as Celebrian".

  • Celebrian. Authoured (apparently) by somebody called 'Stark'. 20,000 words of rape, brutal rape, bestial rape, orgy rape, scat, and so on.
    • Fandom: Lord Of The Rings
    • Pairing: Celebrian/everybody.
    • Synopsis: Celebrian gets kidnapped by goblins and turned into their rape slave. Then she gets rescued. Then she willingly goes back for more goblin cock.
    • Comments: Considered a 'gem' among badfics, and a challenge for all readers of badfic to get through. It's not just disgusting. It's also boring. It goes on for 20,000 words and you find it tough to read, not merely because of how vile and disgusting it is, but because it's so goddamn boring. A well-noted comment made and agreed with by a self-admitted pervert is:
Quote: I maintain my stance. It's not that it's so disgusting, but it goes ON AND ON. And it's so BORING. How can torture, S&M and all that other crap be so irrevocably BORING? Half the time I don't even go 'ew'. I just look at the scroll bar and think, "What? Not even halfway through? GOD!"
    • You have been warned.

Recommend Yuffie Pays the Price be cut if the death scene — surely the reason it was written — truly is in Tear Jerker territory, even if it's by accident. Accidental art is still art.

I tried it, and failed. I still am not 100% convinced the listing of this work (and its author) isn't for squick — though the OOC note eases things slightly. Bondage is a known kink. Death Fic is a known kink, albeit a highly unpopular one...

And I still think Horrible works should not include Tear Jerker scenes.

Someone recently posted a Suzumiya Haruhi fanfic on here the day it was posted on fanfiction.net. I recommend we not do this sort of thing in the future, as there is still a chance of It Gets Better.

If possible, we should try to focus on completed fics and apparent Dead Fic. We are supposed to be judging entire works, which is hard if the entire work isn't posted yet.

Note for future editors: Please don't put spoiler tags on any vile acts unless they literally made you cry in a corner. And even then, this only applies if you've seen Goatse without crying in a corner literally (Or some other shock site).

Note: David Gonterman has been listed on the So Bad Its Good fanfic page. It is, in fact, possible that some of his lesser-known works are So Bad Its Good. Recommend that we remove his personal entry and replace his fics where they came from.

Someone appears to have made a slight Take That at fanfic writers in general on the intro to the page (as in, "writers with any skill can create their own characters.") How to deal with that?

I think we need to expand on "Knight of the Forest" a little. We have Rouge Angles Of Satin, but that comes in So Bad Its Good fics as well. We have Character Derailment, but no details of what sort, other than swearing. And we have "surprise sex" in a fic that is on a site for X-rated fic, where sex of some sort is expected. There had better be other reasons.

Could we folderize this into different Fandoms? would be more preferable.

A lot of these are MegaCrossovers, so it would be kinda hard.

Well, then, we could simply add in a "Mega Crossovers" folder. Unless, of course, there's too many such fics to be grouped in that manner.

This is listed under So Bad Its Good.

  • Hermione's New Change (mindrape, BDSM rape, genital mutilation, cruelty to the English language, slash, orgy, bestiality, Character Derailment) (Pottersues has covered this in depth here)
    • Fandom: Harry Potter crossing into My Immortal
    • Pairings: Hermione/Draco, Bellatrix/Voldemort (past tense), Harry/Ron, Harry/Molly, Harry/ Arthur, Harry/Padma & Pavarti, Harry/Remus (in wolf form), Harry/Sirius, and Harry/Lavender - and all these Harry pairings are concurrent. Later, the bigamous Harry/Sirius/Pansy.
    • Synopsis: Hermione learns that she is Voldemort and Bellatrix's daughter and is named Christina Abegaila Cades (also known as Isis Lily Saldis Riddle). She turns into a Goffik and takes Ginny (who is confusingly called Christiana) down with her, becoming an evil rulebreaker who "wrecks chaos" throughout the school. She falls in love with Draco, and the two get engaged at the age of 14. Harry, meanwhile, discovers a mind control spell even more powerful than Imperius and uses it to make everyone have violent BDSM sex with him. Especially literal Butt Monkey Ron. Halfway through, Harry gets turned into a girl called Hazel and is raped by Remus and Sirius (who is a Dark Veela). Then he turns into James Potter and is kidnapped by Hermione/Chrissy/Isis and turns out to be her sister/brother and is a vampire.
    • Comments: Harry has a "King Cobra" 10 inches long and 3 inches wide. For comparison, this is roughly the same size as a pint glass of beer. Good luck inserting that into the slot! Also, bravely defying the Translation Convention, an entire chapter is written in badly-Babelfished Italian.

Is that seriously necessary? It makes the page a bitch to navigate, the folders do a perfectly adequate job of keeping the page short if you need it that way, and it really wasn't all that long to begin with.

I'd been searching a few forums for badfics now, and I came across this: NARUTO Veganse Revelations Chaptyr 1 It's awful. Also very NSFW, even though it's rated teen. Supposedly written by a thirteen year-old, it includes homophobia, sexism, incest, a hypocritical author, disturbing sex scenes with porn of everything you can imagine...Ugh. Well, at least it's fun to spork, and the author's reactions to you saying ANYTHING bad about it could qualify it as So Bad Its Good.

I enjoy searching for badfics too and I came across that. I posted it on the actual So Bad Its Horrible fanfic page, but somebody removed it for it NOT BEING BAD ENOUGH. I suspect they didn't read past the first chapter. However, the fic is somewhat of an anomaly since (for me, anyways) it [violently] teeters back and forth between being So Bad Its Horrible and So Bad Its Good. I mean "Edfred".... that was priceless. And some of the dialogue and situations are just so absurd it's hard not to laugh. But then again, some of it is just so Squicky it's hard not to want to leap through the screen and strangle the author. Related to this, I feel it should have its own article, since it's practically begging Tv Tropes to make one on it, and lots of other fanfics with far less reviews have articles, too.

Yeah, and the most significant part is that it is still going on, while other specifically bad ones have Ragequitted. Also, the author takes being a Jerkass to a new level when he flat out says that people have no right to believe in God or be gay. I think we should write an article on this one. (Oh yeah, and I actually told the author about this site after I made references to it. I'd love to see his reaction.) Scratch that, the fic's been deleted.

Yeah, I just saw that yesterday from his twitter account. I won't make a page for it, though-I'm trying to bargain with the author to join this site via a review of Katie's story, because he didn't turn on anonymous reviews. Well, I'm doing this to see if he's a troll or not (This site doesn't have many trolls, from what I've seen. Plus, he'd seem less trollish if he actually complied.), and if he isn't, I can at least tell him what's wrong with him directly. He might just be a troll, but trolls aren't usually this stubborn... (And man, he's more full of shit than ever. He thought I was serious when I sarcastically told him I was a member of the Illuminati, as well as being a Nazi, an alien, and a FLYING BURRITO. He also says burning churches, jailing people for having different tastes than he does, killing people for playing music in this generation and banning gay couples from the public (just kissing in public isn't allowed) is TOLERANT. Brain Bleach, please.

I bet you he wont join. Whether a troll or not. He is just too stubborn for that. On another note, having seen your earlier sporkings (especially the ones before he started replying to you) prior to the first posting of the fic being deleted, I must say that I wish you'd continue those thorough sporkings instead of just replying to the author's notes. I only say this because the story has gotten so ridiculous, what with Naruto's Wangsting, Sakura becoming EVEN MORE OOC (I don't even watch Naruto but her OOC-ness has been taken Up to 11), and the ever increasing Eggcorns/Malapropisms are making the fic quite funny and in desperate need of sporking (though that's not to say the AN's dont deserve their current sporking either). I'm terrible at it myself, though.

Yeah, I'd changed my mind. But at this point, it's sort of pointless to poke at the OOC-ness, because you can't even tell that these are the same characters. (I've never actually seen the show either, but at least I know that the characters don't act like...this.) And now I'm sort of tempted to make a page for it.

Edit: Making one now. Brb.

Another Edit: Page made. I'm sort of busy, so I didn't index it yet, and I can only add so much right now.

Got a question about adding new entries. Do I have to post a new entry back here first to ensure that it's So Bad Its Horrible? If so, I recently rediscovered a doozy that I originally was lost: Aphrodiesiac Powder (NSFW).

ADDENDUM: In case you need more info before following that link:

I know of another one, but I need to know if we have a One Steve Limit on authors here. The next one is by the same guy that wrote "Diamond Pokemon."

FF.net appears to have gone on a minor purge of erotic fanfiction. While certainly admirable, this event leads to the issue of a lot of fanfiction that's listed, but no longer exists. What to do?
