Isn't it a Reconstruction as well as a Deconstruction? I mean, most of the characters have Taken A Level In Badass, and not only do the Supernatural Martial Arts still work instead of Reality Ensuing left right and centre, they are taken Up to Eleven. Sure, it's Darker and Edgier and there are Flesh Wounds as well as Clothing Damage, but it's only gone from Never Say "Die" to Nobody Can Die. Even Shampoo got Defeat Means Friendship after going after the rest of the cast with an incredible amount of More Dakka, a crapload of Stuff Blowing Up and no Swords Set To Stun.

I suggest you chalk this'n up on Ask The Tropers. Faster response that way.

Material that was cut from the article with edit reason "take this to the discussion page" follows:

  • At its most basic simply sarcastic No Fourth Wall comments about the story structure itself, along with ripping out the innocence, compassion, and likeability out of the series, to be replaced with Post Modern "good is a stupid pussy, but evil knows how to party"-style FamilyUnfriendlyAesops more from the viewpoint of Black Lagoon; very selective serious Accentuate the Negative and OOC for a lot of the cast (given that this is a series littered by OOC, here along unusual patterns), or "accentuate the positive" for characters like Genma who almost everyone portrays as an ass (so there wouldn't be a point), combined with lots of uncharacteristically mean-spirited similar "voice of the author"-style viewpoints, and similarly specifically targeted strong bash fic, Jerk Sue, and Villain Sue elements.
  • Also likely deliberately Up to Eleven Moral Dissonance. For example, protagonists in one moment seriously think that anyone with a mental handicap should be strangled at birth and the parents kill themselves in shame; or a Japanese telling a Chinese that she will "Go Nanking on your ass" (despite rampant Japanese history-revisionism about the rape-camp massacre), whereas a far less severe commonplace bigotry (among Japanese towards other Asians) comment from a non-protagonist immediately receives gasps from the same people who spent the rest of the story being far worse in that regard; or the serious double-standards about Disproportionate Retribution, with the protagonists being entitled to have far more "righteous"/"justified" Unstoppable Rage Jerkassery for far less reason.
  • However, the most important aspect may be that it also deliberately overstates the story elements that make a stereotypical Fan Boy cream themselves, with random obscure "geek"/"otaku" references regardless if they make any sense whatsoever for the character, overstated high-powered battles, lots of Michael Bay explosions make everything better, repeated invoked famous movie moments such as the T-1000/Shampoo wandering unscatched from an exploding tanker, various Internet memes, overflow of random crudeness, ruthless Family-Unfriendly Aesop conceited cynicism, ridiculously stereotypical prolonged high-powered battles, a pet character the canon uniformly treats as severely overmatched suddenly gaining completely unfounded extreme power-ups that allow them (in this case Shampoo) to bully around the rest of the cast, or Akane gaining a 100x power-up from 2 weeks training, whereas some of the ones treated as seriously powerful threats in canon are now almost jokes in comparison, etc, almost to the exclusion of all else... all the while stating outright that any of the readers that allow themselves to be manipulated into buying the calculated standardised empty junk-food crap are "sheep" and "morons". It also builds up some of the standardised self-help story conclusions, just to puncture them with an "Evil usually wins, and your exertions may all amount to nothing. What's new? Life isn't fair. Grow up and deal with it". The attempted viral marketing here at TV Tropes with the story likened to the most ambitious high-quality complete fanfics out there (admittedly sharing the trend with several considerably lower quality stories than this one) after the posting of just a single chapter (by various new reviewers) makes the impression even stronger. Butt Monkey Gosunkugi also seems like a (generally misaimed but nonetheless) very harsh satire of some of the fandom. Somehow one of the later sincere reviewers still thought that the "satire" label was just an "umbrella", rather than an honest "I told you outright, so what's so hard to understand".
  • At its potential deepest level, given the fanfiction community this is aimed at, and the comment that "if you hate the story now, wait until the end", it is also possible that it is intended as an overstated Up to Eleven satire of Jerk Ass-fic tendencies in general and the mindsets of the people who write them.

End copy-paste.

Don't take it the wrong way, it just prevents discussion on the main page.

I don't agree or disagree, just keeping things tidy.

I wasn't the one who'd posted the stuff above. Only because it had been edited with reason "take it to the discussion page" (or something not unlike it, can't remember off the top of my head) and there was nothing on the discussion page, I assumed it hadn't been copy-pasted as an oversight, and corrected it. Just trying to be helpful.

I mean I don't get what the hell the original poster is talking about with about half of those comments. Admittedly I didn't read too far past the Kodachi arc so maybe I'm missing something really important here, but if I'd read this review on a forum somewhere I wouldn't have the faintest clue that he was talking about Interview without being told, and a good chunk of this "review" or whatever this originally was comes down to him bitching about the fic's Black Comedy and the prevalence of the Rule of Cool. Is there some massive Genre Shift after the Kodachi arc or something?

Not Genre Shift per se, but there is a succession of Wham Chapters one after the other as soon as Shampoo is introduced.

In my opinion, just chant the MST3K mantra and remmember the rules of Cool and Funny are in full effect here. This ain't a troll fic at all...Just sit back and enjoy the show!

Just relax kids, everything will be fine. You just got to remember that suspending disbelief should be saved for stuff that attempts to stay in the ballpark of belief. This story isn't one of them.

A whole gaggle of new tropes and no examples to cite? What is this?

Cleaned the page, tropes were clearly used to troll.

No, no trolling whatsoever. I never, ever do that, I simply tell the truth as I perceive it, and you were the one who resorted to "whine, whine, whine, bitch, bitchity-bitch-bitch" level (which is a stance that also contradicts your "trolling" rationalisation btw). I did however attempt to balance the page somewhat, as I dislike onesided marketing/showing only one side.

Anyway, I've strictly inserted equally valid other tropes that I saw strong tendencies of when reading the story (at the same time that I searched for tropes to my own fic, which is why it turned a bit hasty, but am open to compromises, although mediation and dialogue requires keeping down the overreactions and staying reasonable.

I'm keeping out of this, but I will offer a word of warning: people have been banned for edit-warring before, so be careful.

Well then, let me offer a different perspective and correct a few issues. Ryoga is no saint in Interview, no less than he was in canon. It's easy to feel bad for him for what's happened to him, but bear in mind that he's a Butt Monkey because of the dogged pursuit of his vendetta, and abusing the curse he bemoans to get close to Akane.

An important point is missed in the issue of Scott in Crossover too. The moment Simon Lee found that Scott was in Tokyo, his first impulse was to hunt him down and attempt to kill him in a deliberate mirroring of Ryoga's hate-fueled vendetta against Ranma. Scott defended himself accordingly, and when he did find out the identity of his attacker, he was genuinely shocked and he did attempt to apologize. Why was it treated so lightly? Well, first off it's a comedy. Second, Scott is a total dork. Third, Simon was trying to kill him.

I don't care if I get banned, you aren't supposed to use a tropes page to complain about things you disagree with. Your examples are all highly subjective and all are mostly just your own personal disagreement. If you are THAT offended by it, you should contact the author personally and resolve your problem that way.

Or leave him a nasty review on FF.net. Like I said before, this page is NOT your personal bitching ground. Look at the topic starter up there, do you see that? Someone else dropped a massive amount of their own opinion on this page and it got deleted. Your word is not law here, please keep your grudges and complaining here.
