Hey, it's me again. This time, concerning the poison (black) headcrabs from Half-Life 2.

Sure, they may not fit here perfectly, but hey, who does? Anyway, calling them Goddamned Bats is a but of an understatement for me, because they fluctuate between the categories. Sure, thay may be unable to kill Gordon when it's only them, but when accompanied by other enemies, they're very well a "demonic spider"-level threat, being a part of a 2-hit kill shenanigan and all.

So, what do we do about them?

I'd like to point out that on the main page it says the following:

"These are not dangerous because they distract from something else, they are likely what kills you when you're distracted. They are not dangerous because they push you into hazards, they are enough of a hazard by themselves."

I generally take that to mean that the enemies have to be able to actually kill you to count as Demonic Spiders, and enemies that simply mess up your ability to deal with other enemies are Goddamned Bats, since the headcrabs themselves are not what kills you. I'd also like to say that, as far as I remember, poisoned headcrabs are almost never a threat, since you only encounter them in a couple cases where there are other enemies on hand to come in and insta-kill you.

Yes, yes, I see your point. They're a circumstantial threat, not a legitimate one.

So as to solve one lingering question and to stop a potential edit war on this page, I'll ask this: Why would Cherubs count as valid examples?

They have very low health, their attacks don't cause considerable damage, and there is a very easy way to get rid of them (the plasma gun, which you get way before they appear, and its ammo is plentiful throughout the game), so it's not like it's difficult to kill the little bastards.

Remember: the fact that they're creepy as all hell doesn't count towards this trope.
