"The Dell Inspiron line was somewhat known for having very faulty speakers. [...] The headphone jack has a physical switch that turns off the speakers. If you plug in something in to the jack, the speakers turn off. Unplug it, and they turn on. Simple, right? Well, this switch is bound to get stuck at one point or another, and the only way to even get to it is to disassemble the damn thing, or by spraying contact cleaner in the port and hoping that the air pressure flips the switch."

Is this why I sometimes hear a loud snap when my laptop plays sound?

The Wii's crash handler issue was moved here from Idiot Programming a while back, but it seems more appropriate for that page, given that it's a software issue. Should it be moved back there for this reason?

Doesn't "unforseeable consquences" not fit the idiocy part of this trope? 'Cause they're unforseen?

Good catch, it should say "unforeseen" rather than "unforeseeable" since the point is that the consequences COULD have been foreseen if they had spent more time thinking about it.

This page was made via Trope Launch Pad, but had to be discarded and created manually as TLP doesn't support launching pages in namespaces other than Main. Here is a link to the discussion, in case it is needed some day.
