Well, is it a spoiler? We don't tag non-spoilers.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI would say, Yes, that's a spoiler. Every time someone changes their cape name, there's been a strong shift in ideology, morality or some other similarly life-changing event. Just having the name up doesn't spoil what the change was, but it does spoil that some huge shift happened.
Regarding Hero Antagonist: the fact that Taylor joined the Undersiders instead of the Wards would make everyone associated with the government supers an opponent, true, but I feel "antagonist" should be reserved for people with a full-on grudge. Does Miss Militia belong in that category?
Edit: I'd honestly limit it to Piggot, Assault, and Colin right now.
Edited by RobinZimm Hide / Show RepliesHero Antagonist should be reserved to all law-enforcing characters who actually fought Skitter and the Undersiders, ergo Legend does not count (so far), but Dragon does.
Lazy and pathetic.Edit: Sorry, I hit the wrong button there.
On topic, maybe Alexandria counts as a Hero Antagonist too? Even if Alexandria isn't completely heroic.
Edited by 68.0.227.114It's probably bound to came up in the future, so I might as well open up a thread now.
How about we add a separate entry for Weaver?
You know she's going to get in situations that would require new tropes. Besides we can spoiler tape over the whole section (and move someone else in there if she teams up with Dragon, which is highly probable IMO), and discuss all the good-evil switches she'll get through without too much trouble, starting with the Good Costume Switch.
Please, give me some feedback on the "you are here" menu edit on the subpages. I'm not that big on elegant/pretty designs, so a keep/scrap opinion is highly appreciated.
edit: it seems Fast Eddie does ot like it. Oh well, nvm then
Edited by GorkamorkaGuys, just an heads up: the characters page is getting really big, if it goes on like this we'll have to split it up, folder control cannot really cut it for much longer.
Any idea on how to split? hero/villain and major/minor seems unbalanced... maybe brockton bay native / external?
Hide / Show RepliesI'd split it based on how we separated them on the Characters page. (e.g. Undersiders on one page, heroes on another, etc.)
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.that might be a bit too fragmented, but it's a possibility. anyone wants to chime in before I start preparations?
My gut instinct is to divide it roughly like I did:
1. Undersiders (including Skitter)
2. Government heroes (including the PRT and, now, the Irregulars)
3. Brockton Bay gangs
4. S-CLASS THREATS (I accidentally hit capslock, and then realized it was appropriate)
5. Others
...but I'll count the number of BB natives versus non-natives. Possible that that could work.
Okay, I got most of the way through the page, and it's like 75% Brockton Bay. I think it would be better not to have to split it up again as we get more characters.
Ok, I guess that unless THEANT chimes in with a "I'll hate you forever if you split the page like that" I'll go with your and rmctagg09's suggestion.
Oh, and btw, since Hg's Captain Ersatz is female, Bagrat could be a Distaff Counterpart too ya know? :D
Sounds good to me. The character page did get really big. I also need to clean up/expand the nightmare fuel page.
All right, if no on else object I'll split it into: (for the sake of generalness and because renaming a page is a pain in the ass, so generic titles)
sponsored heroes (new vawe is not govt sponsored iirc)
worldwide threats (because Cauldron is not officially recognized as a S, or indeed any, class threat)
(ofc it's all redlinks atm, I'll populate em later if no one chimes in with sensible objections)
Edited by GorkamorkaOk, it is underway. Kindly do not edit the current un-splitted page too much while I'm at it.
I'll mirror any edit anyway, it's just that I'm lazy and I hate extra work ;)
edit: aaand it's done. main characters page nuking in 5... 4... 3...
Assuming I do not get auto-banned for page blanking I'll try and embellish a bit the subpages later, but if any of you has any idea on the format for the new split pages please go on and implement it, they're quite basic at the moment.
Edited by GorkamorkaNo, it's good stuff. I'll probably play with the formatting on the front page to make it look less unbalanced.
Nice formatting guys, I like it (maybe not the nested parentheses, but then I kinda hate lisp).
I'm not sure having cauldron on the front page however, that's a bit spoilery. We could keep it only on the subpage maybe?
edit: to clarify: cauldron as a world threat
Edited by GorkamorkaWe could just spoiler Cauldron on the front page.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Actually, on second thought: does Tattletale have a Cheshire Cat Grin or a Grin of Audacity?
Hide / Show RepliesI vote for Cheshire Cat Grin, it's more specific to tricksters and of people that have a plan. Oh and Glasgow Grin after jack slash too
As far as Jack Slash goes, I'm having some difficulty figuring out if he is a Manipulative Bastard, a Troll, or The Charmer, or some combination.
TV Tropes has too many manipulator tropes. Or maybe that's just what they want me to think...
Hide / Show RepliesManipulative Bastard. Nobody finds him charming, and he's more than a troll (although that might fit as well).
I think it's a bad idea to have Taylor's three cape names un-spoiler tagged. She doesn't even attempt to join the PRT until Chapter 22 out of 30, and I don't think she even gets the name Khepri until after Golden Morning is finished. Having those two names untagged right on the character name line seems a little extreme.
Does someone have a reason I haven't considered to keep the names obvious?
